This college was formerly called the Bangabasi College of Commerce and is affiliated with the University of Calcutta, West Bengal. This college was founded by Late Acharya Girish Chandra Bose, a famous educationist and a great Social Reformer. Mr. Bose established the Bangabasi college in 1887 AD after the Bangabasi School (1885 AD).

2.     Jadavpur University

Established on the 24th of December 1955, the Jadavpur University in Kolkata is a unitary type of technical university. This is a self-affiliated university that was UGC recognized (University Grants Commission) under section 2(f), 11th September 1955 and 12 (B) on 1st November 1956 under the Act of 1956. Later on, on February 23rd, 2012, Jadavpur University was identified and given the status of University with Potential for Excellence (UPE) by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. 3.     St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata

The St. Xavier’s College was established on the 16th of January, 1860 and it is managed by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). This is one of the most prestigious and oldest colleges in India that offers higher education in science and arts. Eventually, the college produced a long line of reputable alumni.

4.     Ashutosh College, Kolkata

Ashutosh College was established in 1916 and this college was affiliated with the University of Calcutta. This college has a rich heritage which contributes to form the culture of the college. Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee was the leader while forming the college and he was a famous educationist, mathematician, and also the then Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calcutta. The current college building has a premise of 40,000 sq. feet and is home to more than 4000 students. 27 subjects are taught as majors/honors at the undergraduate level.

5.     Calcutta Girls’ College, Kolkata

Calcutta Girls’ College was established in the year 1963 and it was affiliated with the University of Calcutta. Smt. Ena Ghosh founded this college and later on became the Principal founder. Along with her, there were signatories like the then Labour Minister of WB, Bijoy Singh Nahar and Labanya Prova Dutta (Ex-MLA).
