Thermostat & defrost process:
These days, the refrigerators are free from frost, which means that in such types of refrigerators, a heater is used to melt the frost inside it and is turned on automatically. The frost is melted first at the coldest & most frosted area. The thermostat comes into picture when the frost is completely melted. The thermostat automatically switches to a cooling cycle in order to maintain the standard freezing temperature. As this process is performed automatically, frost does not build up inside the box.

Generally, the thermostat control is mounted as a knob inside the refrigerator and freezer. This knob controls the temperature inside the refrigerator.

Before proceeding further for LG refrigerator repair service, we have to check if the thermostat control is working or not, the following steps are to be considered first:
  • Step 1: Turn OFF Control Knob to stop the compressor. If it is still running, Unplug the refrigerator.
  • Step 2: then pull off the control knob and remove the screws holding the thermostat in place. Pull out the thermostat and remove any of the wire, either the red or the blue wire from its terminal.
  • Step 3: Plug in the refrigerator, and if the compressor still doesn't run, then the thermostat is faulty. Now, the thermostat is required to be replaced with a new thermostat.
  • Step 4: If the refrigerator runs but the compartment doesn’t cool, unplug the unit and remove the thermostat with a screwdriver.
  • Step 5: Disconnect both the wires from the thermostat and apply a tape on the naked ends.
