6 Differences Between CBD Oil and CBD Edibles

by Pathlie Lee Business consultant

If you have chronic pain, youve probably heard of CBD oil. CBD oil comes from the cannabis plant. However, it doesnt contain any THC. THC is the substance that gets you high, The Daily Beast explains. With plenty of CBD products out in the marketplace, though, it may be difficult to decide which option suits you better. Learning about the differences between CBD oil and edibles is a step in the right direction, as it will help you answer many of your questions and make the right buying choices.

Usage

CBD edibles are taken orally, while CBD oil can be taken in several ways. You can add the oil to edibles or apply it directly on your skin. You can also put it under your tongue or vape the substance. In terms of flexibility, CBD oil offers you more options than edibles.

Forms

There are plenty of options when you go for edibles. You can check out food products like chocolate, gummies, and even granola bars with CBD oil, the C|Net says. For oil, though, you can choose whether to go for oil that you can use for your vaping device, one that you can use like a topical and apply on your skin, and another one that you can put under your tongue. Decide which form is most suitable for you before you shop.

Ease of Use

Its not always convenient to vape your CBD oil. Between using a vaporizer or opting for edibles, the second option offers you a much more discreet way to use the substance. Plus, popping edibles are much more socially acceptable. If you dont want to invite any attention, then its better for you to bring along edibles that contain CBD oil on your travels.

Production

CBD edibles and CBD oil are produced in the same way. CBD oil comes from the hemp plant, while edibles like gummies, for instance, are the result of isolating the CBD compound. Meaning, gummies are made from pure CBD. Isolating the compound through an extraction process makes it possible to get only CBD. CBD oil, on the other hand, is made from the entire hemp plant, which means it does contain a little amount of THC when the oil is harvested. However, the amount is so small that it doesnt go over the legal limit.

Drug Tests

If you regularly undergo drug tests at work, though, its better for you to choose CBD edibles since they wont show up on the tests. The THC content in CBD oil, while small, may still show up when you undergo drug screening. Better say than sorry, then, and stick with the gummies.

Effectiveness

When it comes to effects, though, edibles take longer. It may take up to an hour before you start feeling any of the pain relief that the medication offers, with effects typically lasting for about four to six hours. The rate of absorption, too, will depend on your metabolism and the amount of food in your system. The effects of CBD oil, on the other hand, can be felt within fifteen minutes.
