5 Ways To Sustainable Living

by Alsons Properties Leading Real Estate Firm
The call for saving Mother Nature has become one of the most recent global concerns. This may sound like a big problem for an individual to solve, but actually you can contribute to environmental conservation through a sustainable lifestyle. With high-end real estate in Davao City becoming more eco-friendly, people get to live comfortably while valuing nature.

Davao City is where nature and development meets. This is a good place to start sustainable living. Interested? Here’s how.

1.  Let’s Reduce Waste

Waste is the primary contributor to pollution. It’s also one of the main reasons why diseases are rampant, especially in areas with bad waste segregation and management. Additionally, it increases the carbon footprint, or the total amount of greenhouse gases produced directly and indirectly to support human activities, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide which highly impacts to global warming.

To live a life of sustainability, make zero-waste philosophy a goal! Use kitchen alternatives instead of disposable items. Reusable towels and bags, stainless containers, and glass bars and bottles, are always better than the disposable ones (paper towels, disposable utensils, and cups).

When shopping, try to use eco-bags. There are a number of local eco-bag producers in Davao. Not only you are helping the local economy, but you are also helping the environment by reducing waste from not using plastic or paper bags.

2.  Giving is Saving

We all have items at home that seem to be no use for us. But one man’s trash is another 's treasure.

Donating your things would be a great help in saving mother nature! Household items like furniture, appliances, and clothing can be donated to thrift shops, orphanages, and calamity victims.

Some organizations also accept donations like electronic devices and computer equipment. So your old phones and broken CPUs will be gladly accepted by these agencies.

Also, you can do garage sales for your clothes, books, and household materials. Talk about earning, right?

3.  Let’s DIY

Do-it-yourself (DIY) videos have been a viral trend online. People have been hooked on creating new items out of random items. This can be a good thing to do to live a sustainable lifestyle.

Bring out your scissors, glue, and creativity! We’ll make recycling fun and interesting.

DIY materials can transform our unused household materials and even non-biodegradable waste into cash.

4.  Say NO to Waste

We always have the choice to choose which product to buy. Do not patronize products that produce a lot of waste.

Using single-use products is a no-no, too. Look for reusable containers as well as look for packaging that is eco-friendly and reusable/recyclable.

5.  Dirty is (sometimes) fun!

Homelife can produce waste – that is a fact! Most of our kitchen wastes are biodegradable, which means we can do composting in our backyard.

“But our backyard has little space” - it does not matter. We can always make compost anywhere. Get your hands dirty and create a compost pile. There are blogs and websites that will teach you how to make your own compost in cans and even plastic containers! Talk about sustainability!

Having your own compost does not just give you fertile soil for your garden, but this could also be a good income-generating project.

Gone are the days where we rely on plastics and single-use containers, this time we have the chance to save the world through responsible and sustainable living. Lifestyle estate developers, like Alsons Properties, provides a good place to start living like this in Davao City. Interested? Contact us now.
