Planning the Perfect Picnic

Picnics are a great way to spend some time in the great outdoors. In places where you can find the high end real estate in Davao, there are plenty of parks and open spaces to lay down a picnic blanket and lie on the grass on a warm sunny day. Also, it can be a bonding opportunity for you and your children on the weekends. 

In a tropical place like the Philippines and a city with great weather all year round like Davao City, any day is perfect for a picnic!

Look for a shaded area, preferably under a tree in the park to set up your picnic. Or, if you're in an open space, pack a large umbrella with you. Finding a cool shaded place is the key to a comfortable picnic. And it can help prolong the coldness of your drinks.

You don't have to pack any sophisticated dishes to make your picnic special. Some grilled cheese sandwiches, a selection of fruit, and lemonade will do. And you can spice it up with a bunch of popsicles for dessert.

Forget the fancy lunch packs and portable mini fridge; nothing screams picnic like a large woven basket and red checkered blanket. And put away the electronics while you’re out there. Play some good old fashioned games like frisbee or tag. 

Sure, paper plates and plastic spoons are convenient, but they're a waste of space in landfills. It's just as easy to pack several sets of lightweight flatware and utensils. And instead of wrapping your good in aluminum foil or cling wrap, put them in reusable containers instead.

They can be used for virtually anything on the picnic. Wiping up spills, mopping up stains, keeping drinks cool, covering food to prevent flies from getting on them, or even as a pseudo handle wrap to make your picnic basket look and feel a tad bit more festive.
