5 Smart Tips to Choose the Right E-Learning Vendor

by Ella Wilson Love to write
The last year has demonstrated the need for and success of remote work and learning when conducted properly. Schools and businesses around the world have moved their instruction online as more and more communities are severely impacted by the spread of the COVID-19 virus. While this has been challenging, it has also shown many people what we as a society are capable of. This absolutely includes our technology - and how we can use it to instruct our students and employees without ever having to crowd a classroom.

With such booming success, there are more vendors offering online instruction platforms and premade e-learning modules than ever before. If you are a business owner looking to invest in this type of instruction for your staff, choosing the right one might seem tricky. Here, we’ll break down five tips for finding the right provider and getting the most out of your courses!

Look for Industry Experience

Many companies have jumped into the world of providing online education in the last year. It’s only natural, seeing how many people are now searching for these products. Look for a company with more than a few months of experience to ensure that you’re getting a product that wasn’t thrown together in haste to meet that market boom. You’ll be much more satisfied with providers who predate the pandemic, as they’ll have many more years of industry knowledge to draw on if you have questions or concerns.

Understand Cost

Cost is an important factor in choosing anything, but it shouldn’t be the only factor. Remember, higher quality will naturally be linked to a higher cost. Be willing to pay more to get more, but compare prices across the industry to ensure that “more” isn’t “too much”.

Consider the Quality

You can’t expect your employees to gain much from a course that isn’t offering high-quality content. Ensure the quality by asking for references upfront - where did your provider source their information and how was the product created? What standards does it meet and how has it been tested? Ensuring product quality ensures performance quality - and maximum gain from your investment.

Scrutinize Technology Proficiency

When you’re investing in a product like an e-learning course, you want to know that the people who designed it and maintain the programs are technology savvy. Look for high-quality graphic design, well-written copy, and smooth operation in trials of any program you are considering investing in.

Tailor Your Approach to Your Employees

Of course, the biggest determining factor in whether e-learning modules will work for your staff or not is whether they are accessible and digestible for them. Have a lot of staff members who speak another language? Look for courses available in multiple languages. Have employees who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or physically disabled? Ask about special accommodations that a vendor can make to meet their needs. By doing so, they’ll also be meeting yours - and be a great choice for future investments!
