5 Signs it is Time to Buy Phaco Handpieces
by Whiteshark Media White Shark MediaYou don’t need to be told how important it is
to have clean handpieces. As a medical professional, this is something you
already know. You don’t need them just clean, you need them absolutely
sanitary. What’s more- you can’t have just one or two. If you don’t have
enough, you will be forced to rush the cleaning process and this simply will
not do. Do you think it is time your office finally takes the time to buy phaco
handpieces? If any of these sound familiar, the answer is yes!
You are
concerned they aren’t be cleaned properly. Maybe you
don’t know for sure they’re being cleaned incorrectly or too quickly because
you aren’t the one cleaning them. If you even suspect something is amiss, it’s
your duty to look into it. Don’t just keep this concern to yourself and don’t
say something during a casual conversation and think that is enough. Go to your
boss and let them know you think there aren’t enough handpieces to go around
and it’s causing a cleanliness issue.
You
would not be comfortable having the handpieces used on you. If you wouldn’t use a handpiece on yourself or someone you love, you
know that there’s a chance they either are not clean or not working properly.
It is immoral to use it on someone else in this situation, and against the oath
you took as a medical professional.
The
cleaning process is being rushed. “Of course I want
them clean...I just don’t have a lot of time, that is all.” Does that sound
like something you would say? Maybe
you’re trying to get them clean, very quickly. This is simply not good enough,
because a rushed job isn’t a job well done. This means you don’t have enough
handpieces.
The
handpieces are not fully dry before they are reused. Maybe
you’re getting them clean, you just don’t have time to let them dry before you
need to use them again. What happens if you let a towel or rug stay moist? It
grows a lot of mold and mildew, that’s what! You already know this doesn’t
count as being truly clean.
You are
concerned your medical office will be faced with a lawsuit. Someone could get very sick, and even die, and your office will be to
blame. This is too often the end result of using dirty or not-good-enough
equipment for a period of time. You don’t want your patients’ health to suffer,
and you certainly don’t want to be found legally liable for medical
malpractice.
Just like in your kitchen sink, dirty medical devices that are backing up probably won’t get cleaned as thoroughly as they should. You’ll end up rushing through to get done with the chore and get them used again! It’s time you had enough pieces to properly do your job. You may need significantly more handpieces to keep up with the demand than you originally imagined, but it is better to buy more pieces than take a big risk. If you have any older handpieces laying around you no longer use, you can sell used phaco handpieces and make money towards the cost of the new items. That’s a great way to get the pieces you need without putting a huge dent in your budget.
