5 Reasons Why You Should Track Your Personal Health And Wellness

by Sadie Brooks Journalist

The past few years have truly shown us that keeping track of your health is of utmost importance. Everyone wants to be as healthy as possible and no one likes being sick. That is normal, but there are things that you have to do in order to maintain optimal health and wellness. Whether it is going to your doctor or simply cooking at home, there is a lot you can do to track your health and wellness. So, here are some reasons and examples of how you can do this.

Keep a Health Calendar

Way too often we lead a busy life and have no time or the capacity to remember all the things we have to do. That is why we heavily rely on calendars to organize our days, tasks, and daily lives. Similarly, you can keep a personal health calendar where you can track your general health issues, reproductive issues, as well as all the visits to the doctor. In our busy lives, we hardly ever pay attention to our health or even remember that we should go to the doctor. With a calendar, you can know when to schedule a visit to your doctor, gynecologist, dermatologist, dentist, etc. Additionally, keep track of any symptoms, big or small, and check the calendar frequently to see how your health is progressing.

Keeping track of everything can help you notice something abnormal early on and get treatment before it gets serious.

Better Nutrition

One of the biggest benefits of keeping track of your health is getting better nutrition as a result. Eating out and consuming a lot of fast food is convenient, but it is not healthy at all. There is research that people who actually cook at home and plan their meals are much healthier than people who always eat out. There are even apps and calendars to help you manage your diet, too. By always planning what to cook in advance and by sticking to your schedule, you can easily improve your diet, get better nutrients and even lose weight if that is your end goal.

Improved Physical Health

We often get too busy to actually exercise, but physical activity is crucial for staying healthy. Just like you can track your nutrition, you can track your physical fitness progress. You also should include physical fitness in your health calendar because you can then manage to stay diligent and actually see how beneficial exercise is.

Additionally, your trainer can help you reach all of your fitness and health goals. And with such obvious progress on paper, you can stay motivated, decrease the risks of various health issues, build your muscles and make your body and mind much stronger than they were at the beginning.

Managing Chronic Diseases

If you have any chronic disease or health issue, tracking can probably help you control and regulate it better. A lot of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases have an identified connection with diet. If you track your symptoms and how severe or not severe your condition is getting, you can see what changes in diet work and what doesn’t. For example, if you switch to a more plant-based diet, you can actually improve your health and lessen the chronic illness symptoms. So, introduce more vegetables, legumes, seeds, nuts, fruits and whole grains into your diet, and track how much progress are you making regarding your chronic condition.

Alleviate Allergies and Sinus Problems

Many people with allergies and problems with sinuses always seek ways to better manage the problematic season. This is where keeping track and schedules can really help. You can schedule to clean your sinuses on your own or make a visit to the doctor during the colder or allergy seasons. People who rinse their sinuses with saline regularly, actually can alleviate allergies and sinus issues.

Rinsing removes particles and irritants from the sinuses and nose and those pollutants are not irritating your organism anymore. Plus, rinsing thins the mucus and rinses it out so it doesn’t bother your nose anymore.

We tend to forget to take care of our health until it’s too obvious that something’s wrong. We should all make more time for ourselves in order to preserve our health and ultimately live longer. This is where keeping track of your personal health can help you stay on top of everything. Keep track of your symptoms, and diet, regularly schedule visits to the doctor, and exercise regularly. With all that in order, your body and mind will be at ease and much stronger and healthier.
