4 Things You Didn’t Know About Recruitment Agencies

by Denny F. My Opinion

There is a wide world of work out there, if you are willing to look with wonder and, well, make yourself look worthwhile, that is. Although, it may not seem like it if you have been out of work for a while, there are always new opportunities to be had. However, things are a bit different right now than they have been in the past.

Things are different, for instance, with the growing relevance of recruitment agencies, like those available at manpowerab.com. These businesses connect employees with valuable skills to employers looking for said skills. On the other side, they provide employers looking for a wide range of prospects with a pool of talented applicants and curated lists of the best potential candidates.

But, many job-seekers do not realize they are shooting themselves in the foot before they even get it through the door. Below we look at four different aspects of the recruiting process that are essential to understand as a potential employee.

Most Recruiters Start Salaries on the Low End

One of the hardest parts of taking vocational training or even just industry-specific training is knowing your worth. When you receive your education, and your instructors tell you what price points to expect, as well as when you see your peers getting work at a certain wage within the field, it can be disheartening to look at the offerings from related job listings.

This is because recruitment agencies will typically offer the lowest end of the salary range. Nobody wants to start with their best offer, especially if they end up having to hire someone without adequate skills or experience. Therefore, it is best to do lots of research about your expectations and weight that research against your personal situation.

Remember, it is always best to get compensated fairly, but sometimes, it is necessary to just get compensated.

Personality is Usually More Important than Skills

Yes, it is true. In our interconnected world and our multicultural society, being a likeable individual is absolutely crucial to long-term career success. Now, no one is saying that you have to be a philanthropist rockstar with an unending well of compassion, empathy and kindness. But, you do have to get along with your coworkers, share in company culture and try to keep your mouth shut when you want to complain.

If there is anything you take away from this article about recruitment agencies, it is this essential fact. If you present yourself confidently with compassion and honesty, you will impress interviewers, employers and loved ones alike. This will ultimately lead to you finding success.

Jargon/ Buzzwords/ Technical Terms Don’t Matter

“Synergizing your workflow and hitting key metrics to optimize your strategy for growth and professional development” may sound impressive, but it really doesn’t mean anything. Look, everyone wants to present themselves in a new and unique way to stand out from the crowd. But, using technical terms and watering-down your message isn’t the right way.

Now that thousands of people can find and apply to the same jobs, the market is certainly more competitive. But, it also means that employers have the ability to select just the people that they want to interview. Make sure your resume and cover letters focus on your benefits, technical skills and past achievements as this is much more valuable than “tracking conversions, taking names and being a professional fixer.”

Follow the Rules, Get Results

Finally, in the same vein of trying to differentiate yourself, just follow the recruitment process as it is described. If they ask you to fill out an online application on their web portal, just do it. Don’t leave all the fields blank and send your resume as a PDF because you already put in all that work to make it look pretty. Chances are, the recruiter won’t even see it in that circumstance.

In closing, employment is a two-way street. Employees have the power to hold their bodies, skills and minds hostage from employers who need them. Employers have the power to hold their wages, benefits and promotions from potential and future employees alike. Grasping the idea that this relationship is not one-sided or power-balanced is essential to your future success.
