3 Ways to Grow Your Clothing Company

by TM Maria Be a king in your own kingdom

  1. Use social media influencers

Over the last few years, using social media influencers to grow online brands has become the go-to tactic for many businesses. The options of influencers available is massive, ranging from high-end celebrities right down to people with only a few thousand followers, and the cost of using such influencers is largely related to the size of their audience.

Influencers can be a great tool to show off your brand's clothing to a whole new audience for a relatively small fee, certainly compared to advertising. What’s more, when potential customers see an influencer wearing your product, they are more likely to buy as it appears your brand is being used by someone they are familiar with and trust.

Depending on the quality of the influencer, partnerships can be agreed from as little as a couple of hundred pounds per post, with some even offering a package of X amount of posts and/or stories to choose from. It’s worth noting that ‘stories’ have an expiry date and therefore have an extremely low shelf life in terms of the time period in which they can be viewed. With this in mind, it’s always recommended to go for posts over stories.

  1. Paid social media ads

Using Facebook and Instagram ads to promote clothing brands is probably the single most effective tactic any brand can use. The costs of these ad platforms put them in reach for even the smallest of startup brands or existing brands with very little budget.

For those new to social media ads, the first thing to note is that spending can be capped at a daily level, meaning you set exactly how much you would like to spend on each advert, so you’re never left with a high bill. This also allows you to test different kinds of ad sets to ensure you’re getting the most out of your marketing budget.

  1. Offer discounts with purchases

A popular way of driving repeat sales from existing or even new customers is to offer, within the product, a discount code for their next order. This can be anywhere from 10% - 25%, or whichever level your business can afford.

Including discount codes such as these are a great way to deliver repeat orders, as the customer thinks they’re getting some additional value, or may even offer it to a friend or family member.

The discount does not have to be a set percentage of the next order either, rather it could be something like ‘buy on t shirt and get another free’, which may work out better in terms of revenue and profitability.

Finally, you could also offer a discount to a customer if they refer your product or brand to a friend, by way of a referral discount, which can be more beneficial in the long run as you’ve acquired a new customer and kept an existing customer happy.
