I've read their 7 plugins manual and all together have like 9 plugins to handle security. 3.0.1 has been the slowest so far to have major issues but as with anything open source, the hackers get the truck as developers and tend to have initial hacks come out the same day as the new version. Security solutions are available free but the best ones will cost you a few bucks but the piece of mind will save you an ulcer.

While tire kicking on tools to buy be sure to put up WP-Firewall and WP-Security and WP-Antivirus. Look into encryption software as well and make sure you use custom prefixes on you database tables, it's vital.

Thanks for the great read and awesome resource my friend, discovered it from your link at Kooiii.

Thanks Andy I thought that a lot of people would benefit from this Info everywhere Including my friends at Kooiii. Good security is vital and one good piece of advice for new Installs of wordpress is always change the Admin default User. as you know Wordpress create all new sites with admin as user. this leaves a big loop hole for hackers if your password is only small, there is software out there that can figure short passwords. it is recommended that at least a 15 character and number combination is used for logins. thanks again for the comment.

That's the nice thing on 3.0.1 is finally instead of a hard change you choose username on installation. I think that alone has been a major part of it being one of the most secure Wordpress releases yet. We search by WP for both blog and site design, to duplicate the features and expandability you would spend an easy $35,000 with your own coders and designers. Many companies have spent way more than that for far less than Wordpress offers so keeping it secure is a drop in the bucket for the savings you will find using WP.
