Climate Skeptics

by Janet Matthews Health and Nutrition Writer
Scientists at Britain's Met Office Hadley Centre have recently confirmed what many of us suspected. Given continuing delays in real efforts to decrease greenhouse gas emissions, the world will almost certainly exceed the two degrees celsius of warming above pre-industrial levels, the point near where it is generally considered global warming will become particularly dangerous. For more information read the  Climate Ark Blog

Despite all the evidence being produced there are, as always, still the skeptics, and for those of us who have no difficulty in believing that Global Warming is a real phenomena, it can be a real challenge trying to persuade the skeptics that they really should take the whole business more seriously.

For those who do believe Global Warming is here to stay and would like some help knowing what to say to a "Climate Skeptic" here is a very interesting article for you to read

Hello Janet.

Very nice of you to bring up this subject and the scepsis on climate changes. Personally I follow the discussions everywhere I have a chanse and it is clear to me that mankind have to change environment politics. We are destroying our world.

The scientists know about global warming since 1958. They warn but the economic factors (the companies) are pressing then to keep this subject under the table.

Keep Up the good work

I think the warming skeptics have good reason. This planet has had much hotter and much cooler periods in our history. Who was the person that set the bar? No one seems to know. Recent history shows we were much warmer on an anual basis prior to the mass production of the auto. Follow the money, Who stands to gain from global warming scare? My guess is those that promote it the most.

Thank you all for the wide ranging comments. As with all things there will be an element of truth in all that you say, including Bailey our skeptic. I am sure there is big money to be made on the back of global warming and I am sure there are also some scare tactics in evidence.

However I still believe that we should take responsibility for the way we treat our planet and not use the pros and cons of global warming as an excuse for not doing anything to ensure our children and grandchildren have a cleaner world to live in

Remember in 1974 the scientist were warning of global cooling.

I even bought a survival kit. Can I sell my parka to the global warming activist or should i just send cash.

Hi Darrel - I am sure there is a cryptic message in there somewhere - but not quite sure what your point is.

Hi Janet,

Just found this blog - Global warming is here.
For the last 10 years here in Australia, our climate has been changing.
In Melbourne, our rainfall is very poor, and we are in the 11th year of
drought. Water is in very short supply, and it's going to get worse.

When the weather bureau predicts rain, we just say, "yeah, yeah" in the
expectation that it won't come. If it does, it's only what we used to
call showers, not much good at all.

Anyone who doesn't believe in climate change has their head in the
sand. But hey, that's just my opinion!

Old Guys Remember. Humm let me think. Ahh Yes, grade school was sent to the library and told to get a book. OK, me I liked those prehistoric critters, you know with the long neck and really BIG. Opened that book and started to read. Can anyone remember what it said?

Me Me I do. It said and I quote. " Long, long ago when the world was warmer and wetter the dinosaures lived"

Now what;s an old guy to think?

Should Al and I sell our homes in Florida?
