Religiously Speaking
Religiously Speaking...
I have often pondered if there is a true benefit to wearing religion on your sleeve when writing online for the purpose of marketing.
I can’t think of any fortune 500 companies that use God in their advertising unless of course you look into their charitable contributions. Hollywood uses their fair share of religion or lack of it for publicity.
Are you somehow more apt to buy from someone who thanks God or do you sense there is some ulterior motive behind their devotion?
Can a person give thanks in there signature line without people thinking they have gone too far?

Yes, there are good qualities in every person that has lived on the face of this earth, God knows there heart and it is his judgement at the gate and given that final opportunity of Salvation, for there is only one Heaven and one Hell. There is a much difference between Religion and Relationship with Jesus Christ, I have seen many judges on this earth, forgiven yes, because Realtionship with Jesus is real! Religion can vary to make people comfortable, the Gift of Eternal Life thru Jesus is just

Personal belief is just that, isn't it? "Personal"
A little while back, I participated regularly at a business community site, similar to Apsense. Gradually, many forums with people sharing religious verses and prayers for its members etc., began to appear. I participated less and less at this community due to that.
Apsense and similar online communities are established with an intention to support business owners wanting to share ideas, resources and information.
If I wanted to participate i

Personally, I pray constantly for wisdom to stay
away from scams and there are many where people
do mention faith, religion, being a christrian, etc.
This is something that really bothers me.
Not everything is as it appears to be of course.
With this in mind, I second that what Jenn said.

manner that your honesty and morals will show.

I am absolutely more likely to buy a product or join someone in an affiliate program if they praise God. I tell others I'm a Christian.
Thanks for this neat post, and please join my group here:

Well Valerie,
I have felt that if I mention my faith on my busness literature, that It could cause some loss of business, but if that happens, so what. I have faith that my business will be blessed in the long run anyway.
I have a Family Mission Statement on my website and that is the only place I try to share my faith except in personal contact when the subject comes up.
I try to do business with fellow Christians when I can, but like others have said, there are too many out there that tr

You make an interesting point Kathleen. I can talk the talk, use all the right phrases and people see me as a fine upstanding Christian fellow. Heck I used to do it for a living!!! (I was once a minister)
But am I a Christian now, despite my ability to say all the right things?
The point I am making is not about my own faith but the ability of those who present the illusion for personal gain. And the situation is only complicated by the fact that there is such a broad range of opinion

Hi Valerie
Hmmmmmmmm hot topic alright!!!
I for one wouldn't use religion to promote my businesses. However to each their own and if it helps them, great.

Valerie,
Being a born again Christian, I'm always aware of this issue. Although I don't "wear it on my sleeve", I do take note of others who do.
Given the choice, I'd rather work with my own kind. However, not everyone claiming to be a Christian is one. I can tell within seconds of a conversation with a person whether they are or are not a Christian.
This is not to say that they don't love their God or that they are not "good" people. It simply means that they don't belong to the sam

Wow! This topic's really got us going; so I have
to add my two cents worth: Good qualities in
human behaviour are common to all religions.
Personally, I'm happy to leave it at that, not wear
my personal beliefs on the sleeve or try to impress
others with how righteous I can be.

That's THEIR problem if they don't like it... not mine. I'm not about to change now....

Good theme! I'm a strong believer in Lord Jesus Christ, but I'd never use His Name to advertise my products, even if they'd be books related to religion or faith. Also, I admit the difference Graham sees between religion and faith. And, yes, for marketing with integrity you need to have your moral and spiritual life in order. But, I think we don't have to SAY it more than SHOW it in our actions.

Sounds like we're a concensus with this issue.
And, I applaud everyone for discussing this issue without mud slinging, spouting religious tract (of any variety), etc. A great discussion among professional adults.

I think with religion...no you should not use it to your advantage verbally. But ...if you are really walking with God..it will show up in you physically and in your ways. If you really walk the walk instead of just talk the talk, it will be revealed no matter what.

Wow, Valerie! You've got a hot topic going here!
Here are my two cents worth: Someone who uses their God in their business advertising is very unlikely to get any business from me. After years of doing business online and off, I find those who advertise their belief system as part of their business advertising (especially those who advertise that they are Christian) are MOST often some of the most miserable, untrustworthy and difficult people I've ever met.
Actions do speak much louder than

Hi Everyone
Well I will go even further than Doug - Doug you have said "If you feel you need to advertise your religion, instead of your product, except of course if you are marketing religious merchandise in the temple courtyard, then I would suggest you find another product that you can advertise on it's own merit."
Well I sell nativity sets which are part of the christian story about the birth of Jesus - and angels which can belong to many religions or spiritual groups - and I still see

Thank you Jenny,
I agree, the most sincere religious/spiritual people I have met in business or elsewhere, are those who did not proclaim themselves to be religious or spiritual. I was able to draw the that conclusion myself, from my dealings with them.
Seems Like I can remember Jesus relating a few parables about those who wore their religion on their sleeves, (does the name Pharisees ring a bell?) and he didn't have to many nice things to say about them.
If you feel you need to adv
