Business Round Table

Ads as posts

While I know we all want to do the right thing here let us agree to follow an honor code. Ads should not be posted in the group discussions. You are welcome to make a post and use a link in your signature line.

In order to keep us on track all blatant ads will be removed promptly. This is a forum for discussion of business issues. We will keep the policy of allowing a web address/link in the signature line.

If one person is allowed post ads of this type in all fairness everyone would have to be allowed to post ads. Instead of a discussion group, we would degenerate into an advertising network.

Please do not post ads they will be deleted immediately. Any user that continually places ads (3 or more) will be blocked. This group is not for the posting of adds but sharing of information. Ads will not be tolerated.

I apologize if this seems harsh but there are several groups dedicated to ads of all types, please post them there. We will not use group discussions to sell or recruit. Signature lines including links or websites are welcome and all are encouraged to use them.

Absolutely Cheryl, there are enough groups for ads and it is nice to have a group clean of that.

GOOD MORNING ALL!
I want to do the right thing always. I am VERY frustrated sometimes because I am NOT into MLM, etc. I just want to announce my new site, new product, new service.......whatever, and do business. I am a simple tradeswoman seeking "bonified purchasers for value". How do I do that WITHOUT being assaulted by everyone trying to get me to make THEM some money instead of looking at what I offer and going from there. Is it possible?

That is a good question GA BIZKID. There's several ways to get people to look at what you offer. Some are good and some are annoying. First there are several groups here at APSense dedicated to ads. Of course that means your ad is one of many. I've found the best way is to get involved. Write blogs, not ads but blogs to start getting people to read more about you. You can blog on your products and websites. Tell people what it can do for them use stories or information to get your point across.

Join groups and be active. Post discussions and comments. Let people get to know you. You will slowly build trust. The more people know and trust you, the more apt they are to go to your website. Your signature line should include a link to your website. And last but definitely not least, work on your APSense Business Center. Add content and information about your products and services.

If you post the exact same thing in multiple groups it is not only an ad but In my opinion duplicate content of that type is spam. Spam is treated in the same manner as ads, it will be deleted immediately. There are some here who join groups with the intention of posting spam to a group. Anyone who is determined to have joined simply to spam or place ads will be blocked, period!

Cheryl,

Great points you have made here about posting duplicate ads, some listen but most don't had do you fix this problem pretty hard to do it. As more and more new members join they fail to follow the ground rules.............Part of any social network nightmares.......Honor should speak for itself........some have but most fail to honor it......

Delete, delete, and delete! If you noticed the bold area on the description page it was added after a member joined this group because of the word "business" in the group name and proceeded to post an duplicate content ad. I immediately deleted it and they have not returned since.

I will also simple block those who use that tactic from no on. It seems that the rule has been taken seriously since I have not seen anymore post and runners since.

It seems a reminder is needed. It is made very clear that ALL Ads will be removed and the offending member blocked. Today I had to remove an ad and block a member. I am very serious about this group being spam and ad free. No second chances, place a spam ad and out you go.

Came across this post by accident, sad too see this has been going on since the beginning.
One should think that the people training these new marketers would have changed their strategy over time, The so-called Gurus seem to be the ones that need assistance.

It does look that way, several members have been banned over the years and still I have new people join the group only to drop their spam. Of course then they turn around and block me as if I care that I am blocked by a spammer. Spam is not how I operate.

No advertising is allowed in this group. It does not matter if you profit from the advertising or not. This is clearly stated int he group description and everyone who joins this group is expected to follow the rules. Those members who post ads will be edited and their member type will be subscriber. They will lose the privilege of posting subjects in this group.

If that is a problem then the member will be blocked. There is no spam/ads in this group and it absolutely will not be tolerated.

I saw you post here right after I saw a new member post a discussion in a group where it should be clear the members expect to read informative discussions, no promotion of sites or programs.

I sent him a PM. He's a good guy, I talked with him yesterday. In his case, he just needs to be told how to do things properly.

I did try to hint nicely that it was advertising it is In big bright orange letters in the group description that no advertising is allowed. They came back with a comment about not profiting for the ad, at which point I deleted it.

Only to come back to find another post about how the ad should nave been allowed because they weren't profiting. The second post was deleted and their status has been changed to subscriber. When I say ZERO tolerance for ads in this group that is exactly what I mean. And since I am the group creator my rules stand. Just as I expect the rules of any group creator to stand. It is not my place as a member of someone's group to twist or interpret their rules to suit me.
