A bit of how I I use this and a few others is when I have an offline client that needs help with sales (keeping things simple). I normally go over the company and suppliers and supplier's suppliers to come up with a solution if time permits.
If not I do a what I call "feet" method, where I use SWOT and five other methods to measure things

A SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis looks at internal and external factors that can affect your business. Internal factors are your strengths and weaknesses. External factors are the threats and opportunities. If an issue would exist even if your business didn't (such as changes in technology), it is an external issue.
