Xiaomi MI TV Review

For Rs 39,999, you get a 10-bit panel, which is capable of delivering content in 4K and HDR and we think it matters the most when buying a TV. Apart from this, this TV offers 4K HDR at 60Hz. If you are unhappy with the OS, you always have the option to plug in a Chromecast, Fire TV stick, or any other box. Although the TV speaker is not the best, so that you can enjoy the film in the best way, but most TV speakers are like this. The TV should have connection options like 3.5mm and RCA. The problem with the TV panel is that it is reflective, and black levels could have been better. If you are searching for a 4K TV in a budget of 40,000, then Mi TV can be a good option.
It is challenging to choose the right TV calls in the budget because you have to compromise in terms of resolution, panel quality, picture quality, sound, connectivity, smart features and other features. Xiaomi has tried to solve all these problems and the result is Xiaomi's new Mi TV 4. This TV boasts 4K, HDR 10 capabilities and has a 10-bit VA panel, which is made by Samsung. This TV comes with a different kind of (unique) interface. Xiaomi, along with Mi Smart LED TV 4, is targeting the emerging LED TV market by offering attractive specifications.
Design.
The Xiaomi Mi LED Smart TV 4 is a slim television. The size of the slimmest point of Mi TV 4 is 4.9mm. A flagship TV, whose bottom part (bottom part) is slightly thick because the internals is located here. The TV can be mounted on the wall or can also be placed on the stand. Overall, TV's design is quite attractive, and especially its sleek look makes it more impressive. Whether you place it on the wall or on the table, it makes its presence felt.
Speaking of connectivity, the Xiaomi Mi LED Smart TV 4 has 3 HDMI ports, with one ARC and the remaining 2 USB ports (1x USB 3 and 1 x USB 2). It also has an Ethernet port, AV input, and a good old antenna connection.
The TV has only one S / PDIF port for audio output, it also has an HDMI ARC, but even if you have a pair of speakers that support 3.5mm or RCA, you can't connect it to the TV which is a bit disappointing. If you want to connect to your speakers, you will need to purchase a co-axial digital adapter cable, which has a 3.5mm or RCA connection. If you have speakers that support Bluetooth, then you can connect them to the TV via Bluetooth, this TV also supports Wi-Fi.Overall, the three HDMI ports are a good number, but the lack of optional audio outputs like the RCA or 3.5 mm is disappointing. In addition, placements of HDMI ports are convenient. If you have a Fire TV Stick or First Generation Chromecast, you will be able to plug in without any extender.
The company claims that the Xiaomi Mi LED Smart TV 4 has a 10-bit VA panel made by Samsung. This TV offers 4K resolution, which is 3840x2160 pixels. Most panels, even some 4K TV panels, have 8 bits. So let's understand the difference between 8 bit or 10 bit and what does it mean. The 8-bit panel is capable of producing 256 shades of colors for each primary color (red, green and blue), while the 10-bit panel can produce 1,024 colors on each primary color. This means that an 8 bit panel can produce 16.8 million colors (256 x 256 x 256 = 16,777,216), while a 10 bit panel can produce billion colors (1024 × 1024 × 1024 = 1,072,341,824). If you are looking for a good 4K HDR TV, then you have to spend above 1 lakh to buy a TV from Sony, Samsung or LG. Xiaomi Mi LED Smart TV 4 offers a great 4K HDR viewing experience, although you can't compare it to a TV that costs more than a lakh, in this range, the experience of Mi LED Smart TV 4 is good.
If you are buying this TV to watch 4K HDR content, remember, you will need PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, Apple TV 4K, Chromecast Ultra or any other device that supports 4K. The standard PS4 and Xbox One S only support 4K for content like Netflix, not games.
In the case of a viewing angle, this device could be improved a bit further. We believe there should have been a standard-setting here. Because, like Daredevil shows, where most of the action is in the dark, we need to set brightness and contrast, just like some Bright shows where most of the action is in daylight, we need to reduce brightness and contrast it occurs.
This TV offers good manual control, for which you have standard (standard) presets, including Standard, Movie, Picture, Sport, Monitor, Game and a user profile. You also have the ability to control 1024 colors for red, green and blue manually.
The TV panel is reflective but not too much, as we have seen before. If you look at the price range of this TV, the viewing experience for 4K HDR content is good. The black levels look quite decent and the transition is also good on the immediate change from a dark scene to bright scene.
As we mentioned above, Fire TV Stick and Chromecast available in India can show content on 1080p. We have seen Game of Thrones, Young Sheldon and The Dark Knight on Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix respectively. Once again, we saw it on Xiaomi Mi LED Smart TV 4, the movie preset for Game of Thrones on Mi LED Smart TV 4 worked fine. For Young Sheldon, we had to reduce the brightness a little, because it is a very bright and vibrant show. Furthermore, the experience of The Dark Knight on this TV was also very good. The experience of all over content from a fire TV stick on this TV is quite good.
Gaming: Console gamers will like it.
Make the most of HDR content, you have to switch settings to HDMI 2.0 manually. Once this happens, the console will recognize the TV as 4K HDR. Xiaomi Mi LED Smart TV 4 has a game preset, which helps with input lag, but does not make much difference when played in-game mode and custom user settings.
On PS4 Pro, we played the train chase sequence of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and the opening sequence of Horizon Zero Dawn, both games looked great and had a great experience. Both games use Sony's checkerboard rendering to present a 4K image in 30 seconds. Yes, there is input lag here but it is what you expect from any other TV.When it comes to connecting PC to Mi TV, we have connected HP Omen 17 via HDMI to find out how PC gaming looks on TV. We played Battlefield 1 on TV via a laptop, because Battlefield 1 is a great example of testing 4K PC gaming in HDR. Overall experience is good, the colors in the game look vibrant.
Benchmark
We ran the Spider 4 Elite on Xiaomi Mi LED Smart TV 4 and below is a graph showing the benchmark results. We also ran a lagom black one lagom white test on this TV for testing black and white levels respectively.
As you can see the black and white levels on the TV, which is perfect, as expected from a 4K HDR TV TV that has a 10-bit panel. NTSC, sRGB and Adobe RGB scores are lower than Sony A1. The contrast ratio in the Mi LED Smart TV 4 is quite low compared to the Sony A1 and this was also expected. But Mi TV 4 is definitely a great option in terms of price.
Audio quality of TV speakers.
The audio quality of the Mi TV 4 is slightly disappointing compared to the rest of its features. The Mi TV 4 has a pair of downward-firing 8-watt speakers, whose performance is suitable for a medium-sized room, but does not provide a great experience while watching a movie.
