Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G Review

by elina John IT Expert

It all began with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 model. Xiaomi's moderate expansion was ongoing with the Poco F3 and X3 series. And now it looks the manufacturers will be closing this series with the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite duo. We are testing the Mi 11 Lite 5G model. It is more powerful than the previous two series, plus it is 5G-enabled.

The Mi 11 Lite Duo 5G truly looks like a Lite version of the Xiaomi Mi 11 flagship. They both comprise similar design models. Both models consist of powerful chipset, high-end HRR OLED mobile screens, and camera setups with resembling capabilities.

Price and Availability

Xiaomi revealed the Mi 11 Lite Duo along with the Mi 11 Ultra on March 29. The model was launched in China. Now it is ready to make its launch to global markets of Europe on May 6.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite Duo is supplied in 4G and 5G versions. The previous model is partnered by a Snapdragon 732G, and the latter functions the latest Snapdragon 780G chipset. Xiaomi gives the Mi 11 Lite Duo 5G in a single 8GB/128GB configuration in global markets. This version is available for £399 ($565) in the UK. You can opt for the set in Citrus Yellow, Mint Green, and Black color variants.

Design and Display

When I started testing the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite, the first spec I observed was its weight. It is 159g, which is one of the lightest smartphones you can get today. With makers adding larger batteries, metal designs, phones have become thick and heavier over the past three years. The transition from the Mi 11 Ultra, which is a giant 234g phone, to the Mi 11 Lite is refreshing. This is one of the thin and light-weighted phones in the market at just 6.8mm.

So, if you want a lightweight smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite is one of the best options. The appealing design itself is similar to the Xiaomi Mi 11.

The wide-angle camera is 64MP, and the macro is 5MP. The 64MP and 5MP cameras are confined in a prolate housing, and the big rings around the lenses make it different.

Battery and Performance

Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G, 8GB RAM

Software: MIUI 12 over Google Android 11 OS

        Battery: 4250mAh, 33W fast-charging

        Storage: 128GB/256GB, microSD

Battery life is the first thing that we estimated would not be long-lasting in the Mi 11 Lite Duo 5G. It is because Mi 11 Lite is very slim and light-weighted. But it’s not as it looks like. For beginners, the 4,250mAh battery is pretty good. It can easily last for 16 hours in a day with about 25% or more battery remaining. This battery life is sufficient enough for a person in a day for doing basic functions on the phone.

Well, we were unable to find a 5G signal location during testing because of lockdown and all that. So, whether a 5G signal would negatively impact battery life is still a matter of debate. However, there is a 5G option in the Settings app to toggle the connectivity off when it's not required. This toggling would increase the battery life of the phone.

Cameras

        It has Triple rear cameras:

o    Wide: (Main): 64 MP, 0.7µm pixel size, f/1.8 aperture, PDAF

o    Wide-angle:  8MP, 119-degree angle of view, f/2.2, 1.12µm.

o    Macro: 5MP, f/2.4 aperture.

        One front-facing selfie camera (punch-hole): 20MP, f/2.2 aperture.
