Window Tinting Isn’t Just For Cars

Thanks to the harsh Australian climate, window tinting is a widespread practice in Melbourne and throughout the country. Car owners love to tint their vehicle and with good reason.

Benefits of car window tinting

Glare reduction – The strong sun rays can impact your vision on the road, making it dangerous to drive when it’s shining right into your face
Protection of upholstery – Reducing the UV light from the sun will lessen any fading of your upholstery, meaning your seats will look nicer for longer
Heat reduction – As well as minimising the sunlight, window tinting also reduces the heat entering your car, giving you less need to use the air conditioning system
Increased privacy – Making it harder for others to see in to your vehicle gives you more privacy when driving and also hides potential valuables inside when parked, thus reducing break-ins

So it’s easy to see why so many Aussie’s are choosing to take the plunge.

But what many people don’t realise is that window tinting is not just for cars, and can be used on both homes and offices too. And there are even greater reasons for doing so, than just those listed above.

Window tinting your home or office can make the building more sustainable, cost effective and environmentally friendly.

Solar Control architectural window film will reduce carbon emissions by reducing power consumption. For example, reducing the heat penetration inside from the sun, you can use your air conditioner less.

Limiting the UV light also reduces fading of carpets, curtains and furniture. This saves you money as you don't need to replace important items as often.

But perhaps the most important reason to consider tinting your windows at home or in the office is for increased security.

Manager of local supplier and installer All About Window Tinting Andrew Booth has seen demand rise strongly for his window security film.

“Home invasions and shop break ins have been occurring with greater regularity”, Mr Booth explained.

“People are sick and tired of being afraid and losing valuables and are finally doing something about it”.

These are sentiments also felt by Marcus De Prima, owner of Lux Window Tinting who says:

"Tints not only offer protection from the sun but also from criminals. The stronger the windows and the more privacy they offer the internal environment, the better."

Window film for security

Security film can easily be applied to glass doors and windows. The product is clear and generally undetectable, but thanks to the multilayered polyester film, is virtually impenetrable.

Criminals can spend 10 minutes trying to kick in a door or window and even apply incredible force with a baseball bat, yet the glass will not break.

“Most burglars are opportunistic”, Richard from Kustom Window Tinting said. “If they struggle to break in to a place quickly it is highly likely they will move on”.
That ensures shops that are unattended overnight will be a lot safer with security window film on them. And for homes, it gives residents plenty of time to call and alert the police.

Security film comes in a range of thicknesses and is perfect for both residential and commercial properties. It is distributed by all the leading window tinting manufacturers including Hanita Coatings, Solargard and 3M.

So if you’re looking to protect your home or business against thugs and criminals, then shatterproof window film is definitely worth considering.
