Why do we need power (UPS)!!!

The remarkable day in the history of novel discoveries in the last 400 years was electricity. But we might be thinking this will it be able to get the revolution in the future..?  Yes, it changed everything. And nowadays it has become a part of our life, time changed and it grew. It is known in many ways, one of which is UPS. 
A UPS (uninterruptible power supply) is a device that allows the computer to run in a short time when the primary power is lost. It provides battery backup when the electronic power falls in voltage level. In this present day, the work tasks of many industries operate on networks. Which is used to protect technical hardware equipment such as the computer, data centers, telecommunication equipment or other electrical equipment Where an unexpected power disruption could be the cause of injuries, facilities, serious business disruption or data loss. UPS units range in size from units designed to protect a single computer (around 200 volt-ampere rating) to large units powering entire data centers or buildings. The world's largest UPS system is the 46-megawatt which is called as Battery Electric Storage System (BESS),
Online UPS batteries are used to connect with the inverter so that no power transfer switches are necessary. When the power loss issue occurs, the rectifier simply drops out of the circuit and the batteries keep the power steady and unchanged. When its restored power, the rectifier resumes most of the load and begins charging the batteries, though the charging current may be reduced to prevent the high-power rectifier from overheating the batteries and boiling off the electrolyte. An on-line UPS is a benefit to provide an "electrical firewall" between the incoming utility power and sensitive electronic equipment.
 Technology use in the online UPS is the same as in a standby or line-interactive UPS. However, it costs much more, due to it having a much greater current Alternating current (AC) to Direct current (DC) battery charger, the rectifier, an inverter designed to run continuously with improved cooling systems. This is called a double conversion UPS due to the rectifier directly driving the inverter, even when powered from normal AC current.
 Offline UPS basically offers basic features, providing surge protection and battery backup. The protected equipment is connected directly to incoming utility power. When the incoming voltage falls down or rises above a predetermined level the SPS turns on its internal DC-AC inverter circuitry, which is powered from an internal storage battery. UPS then mechanically equipment switches that are connected on to its DC-AC inverter output. The switchover time may be as long as 25 milliseconds or above depending on the amount of time it takes the standby UPS to measure the lost utility voltage. The UPS will be formed to power certain equipment, such as a personal computer, without any objectionable dip or disconnect to that device.
UPS system is one of the most important components in your critical power infrastructure, and the batteries are really the “heart” of UPS system. Some of the batteries that are used in the UPS are:
Lead-acid battery
Nickel-cadmium batteries 
Sealed lead-acid batteries 
Among all these batteries lead acid batteries are the most common batteries used in today’s modern UPS system. Batteries which are electrochemical devices that store energy at one time for use at another. The energy which is stored in the form of chemical converted into the electrical form in the process of discharge. Batteries come in all sizes and shapes and are used to power everything from flashlights to satellites. The UPS battery may enhance power to the inverter for a few seconds, minutes, or hours. The battery capacity is regulated by the amount of power the inverter and its load require during that time.
Advantages of UPS

4. It generally used to protect computers, telecommunication equipment or any other electronic devices.
5. Its biggest benefit to the continuity of operation. The end results are higher productivity.
Disadvantages of UPS
Uninterruptible power supplies provide a number of benefits to both home and business use, keeping vital computer and electronics systems running through brief power outages and preventing damage from sudden power loss. UPS also involves a number of disadvantages, in the start-up, infrastructure, upfront and maintenance costs. The costs of investment for both home users as well as even more so in commercial use requiring a large number of batteries.
Startup Cost: It required a major start-up investment when installing UPS. Even it cost lots when we install a single unit in homes. Corporate setups on a large scale run into tens of thousands of money for the machinery alone. These major installations also require an infrastructure set up that can bring a lot of budgets.
Infrastructure: UPS which are used in the home do not require any more setup than a standard surge protector, but on the other hand corporates use bring several additional considerations. These UPS systems also require the exhaust fan. While many battery types do not emit gasses, flooded and vented batteries must have a separate exhaust system to control their smoke.
Maintenance Cost: UPS batteries do not last forever. Like all rechargeable batteries, their capacity to hold a charge is not too long. Depending on the model, the life of  UPS battery can be up to 5 to 10 years. After this, the old battery requires displaced over a new battery. Many UPS manufacturers, as well as retail stores, will recycle home users UPS batteries, but corporations must pay for safe disposal of their equipment.

In today's time, we have a lot of UPS system available. And they also use according to their needs.
