Why Digital Marketing Without Social Media is Impossible
It’s not unusual to hear statements like “social media is the future of advertising,” or “Twitter might become the new platform of choice for digital marketing firms.” While these statements were true and relevant five years ago, they’re embarrassingly outdated today.
The simple truth is that social media has already overtaken almost every other publication outlet for marketing. Those firms with the most potent social reach are outperforming the competition in every category. The social media revolution is in its final stages. It’s no longer disruptive. It’s institutional.
And that’s why you need it.
Person to Person
This year Social Media Examiner published a report on the state of the industry. A whopping 93 percent of digital marketing firms are using Facebook. Although there’s a disparity in skill levels, nearly everybody is on the bandwagon. Twitter isn’t far behind.
Marketers love these platforms because they allow interaction with consumers at a personal level. Direct mail and email campaigns are widely seen as invasive. On social media, however, customers love to interact with brands. Happy customers tweet about positive experiences. By becoming part of the dialogue, marketers can put a human face on brands. A company with a good social media strategy is a relatable company.
The Future is Now
While social media no longer counts as disruptive technology, it remains a wide-open medium. In the same report, Social Media Examiner stated that only 45 percent of marketing firms believe their Facebook efforts are effective. The rest have misgivings. Many just don’t understand the fundamentals of social media success.
If your business needs a boost, consider hiring a digital marketing company. An experienced firm can build you powerful social media channels, find loyal new consumers and experience notably increasing sales. If you don’t already use social media in your marketing efforts, or if you worry that your networks are ineffective, see what a professional firm can do for you.
