Paul McCartney Helps Facebook Launch 360-Degree Photos
At 73 years old, Paul McCartney doesn’t seem to be losing steam. With his debut in 1957, his timeless music and personal brand are ideal for content marketing companies. He won’t be stopping any time soon. As such, Facebook has entered into a mutually beneficial partnership with him as they launched their newest feature, the 360-degree photos.
The Launch
Facebook, the dominating social media platform for all ages, now offers the ability to post 360-degree panoramic photos. A simple pan left or right via mobile device or desktop computer takes the viewer from sitting on their couch at home to being on the scene with you. This newest innovation is a way to share the most important moments with your friends and family. Content marketing companies are already finding ways to utilize this tool in their own media.
Paul McCartney was picked to test the service alongside photos shot by NASA and the New York Times. McCartney helped celebrate this launch by sharing his own photo from a concert in his One on One tour. The photo depicts a show in Argentina in which you can see the legend, his band, the audience, the lights, the pit and more. He plans on posting more from his tour by using the hashtag #OneOnOne360 and encourages fans to post their own photos from the events.
Celebrity Spokespeople?
Brands using celebrities as spokespeople isn’t a new concept. In fact, this tactic has launched many careers through influencer marketing. Brands determine the best celebrities by analyzing their earnings, online exposure, social media fans and followers. By using different algorithms, they determine the power ranking of each individual.
Content marketing companies then determine the negative effects each celebrity could have on their brand. A down to Earth demeanor, authenticity and the minimal possibility of ending up in a tabloid makes for the ideal spokesperson.
Paul McCartney and Facebook have a mutually beneficial relationship. Facebook’s 360-degree photos reach millions of people. McCartney has a platform now to promote his new compilation of songs “Pure McCartney”. He discusses each different song as he releases each new 360-degree photo.
A Brand That Never Dies
In recent years, much to our dismay, many of the greats that we’ve looked up to while growing up have passed away. A 59-year career makes Paul McCartney one of the last legends of his time. With the guarantee of more to come, content marketing companies from around the world are excited to see who he partners with next.
