Getting a tattoo is a big decision, and one that a lot of people do not take lightly. When the process is botched it can be very frustrating for the customer. From Salt Lake City to the East Coast, this leaves some people wondering when the tattoo parlor can be held liable for a mistake, and what is not considered their fault. As with any procedure involving direct contact with the blood stream, tattoos can result in serious health problems and in some cases may even necessitate the hiring of a wrongful death lawyer.

So when exactly would a tattoo parlor be held liable for a mistake or injury? Just because you dislike the finished product artistically does not mean that you can sue the tattoo parlor. A tattoo parlor can only be held liable if it is proven that they have been negligent; for example, if the tattoo parlor is negligent in any way that results in personal injury or bodily harm. Even then, most parlors from Salt Lake City to the Gulf Coast have clients sign a liability waver before getting a tattoo that covers a lot of scenarios and legally protects them.

As with any procedure that deals with blood, there is a risk of infection. If the tattoo parlor uses unsterilized equipment to perform the procedure and that can be proved in court, that would be one case where the parlor could be held liable. Some other examples of negligence that could result in the tattoo parlor being held liable for injuries include if they do not inquire about a client’s allergies or medical history. This one is particularly serious and could result in the need for a wrongful death lawyer.

However, in Salt Lake City and across the country, if the parlor fails to clean and upkeep their equipment, that could also prove to be a liability. Another issue that could result in the need for a wrongful death lawyer is if the tattoo artist fails to use proper protective equipment or works under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

If you or a friend has had medical difficulties because of a negligent tattoo shop, be sure to contact a lawyer who specializes in liability cases such as injury and wrongful death. These attorneys understand that you are simply trying to take care of your body and you need help to recover. Often they will even listen to your story for free to see if you have a case. So regardless of whether you live in Salt Lake City or somewhere else in the country, contact a lawyer in your area to see if they can help you.
