What to Do When T-Mobile Data Is Not Working on iPhone 9?

Reset the Settings

APN and data settings are set automatically to the correct values when a T-Mobile SIM card is inserted to iPhone 9. In case you are not able to edit the APN settings, you have to reset the network settings.

Follow the below steps to master reset the settings:

  • At first, back up all your internal memory data.
  • In case you have enabled Apple FMiP activation code, you would need Internet access to perform these steps.
  • Go to the Home Screen and tap on 'Settings' option.
  • Tap on General > Reset.
  • Now, select your desired option:
          1. Erase all the content and settings – this will master reset your settings.
          2. Reset all the settings.
          3. Reset the Network Settings – this will remove saved passwords from Wi-Fi profiles.
          4. Reset Location & Privacy
          5. Reset Home Screen Layout.
          6. Reset Keyboard Dictionary
  • When you get a prompt, type in your device password.
  • At last, confirm your selection.

Manually Select the Network

Whenever your device in within T-Mobile's calling area, it will automatically register on a wireless network. However, roaming networks are generally restricted to SIM card only. Therefore, you have to select a network manually when you are in an area where T-Mobile doesn't own a GSM spectrum. For this, follow:

  • Go to your Home screen and tap on the 'Settings' option.
  • In here, you will see the 'Carrier' option; tap on it. In case you do not find this option with T-Mobile SIM card in your device, it means your device hasn’t been unlocked correctly or jailbroken.
  • To begin the network scanning, toggle the 'Automatic' option to the ‘off’ position.
  • Now, select the desired carrier and finally, tap on the ‘Home’ button.


Switch 2G/4G ‘On’ and ‘Off’

When you are not receiving cellular data signals properly, try to switch the network settings. For this, follow the given steps:

  • Go to the Home screen at first.
  • Tap on Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Enable LTE.
  • Select any one of the following options.
          1. Off
          2. Data only
          3. Voice and data (for VoLTE)


Turn the Airplane Mode ‘On’ and ‘Off’

Sometimes, refreshing the network eradicate the cellular data issues. Also, airplane mode turns the wireless connections off. You can use the application and menu, but this will disable the Internet or voice use.

  • On the main screen, swipe up the screen with your finger.
  • It will display a small arrow. Once again, swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
  • At last, tap on the Airplane mode.

Turn the Mobile Data ‘On’ and ‘Off’

To do so, follow the steps given below:

  • Go to the Home screen at first.
  • Tap on Settings > Cellular.
  • Move the 'Cellular Data' slider to the OFF position.


Turn the Data Roaming ‘On’ and ‘Off’

For this, follow as below:

  • Go to the Home screen at first.
  • Tap on Settings > Cellular > Cellular data option.
  • Move the 'Data Roaming' slider to the OFF position.


Turn VoLTE ‘On’ and ‘Off’

For this, follow as below:

  • Go to the Home screen at first.
  • Tap on Settings > Cellular > Cellular data option > Enable LTE.
  • Now, select any one of the following options:
          1. Off
          2. Data Only
          3. Voice and Data (for VoLTE)
