Micra is also known for some of its first in segment features. Nissan introduced the engine start/stop button and the push button door lock system for the first time in hatchback segment in India. These features increase the pleasure of ownership for the person.

Nissan Micra has both petrol and diesel engines as options. Nissan and Renault companies have joined together and developed these power units. The HR series petrol engine develops 76 hp of power and the K9K series diesel motor develops 64 hp of power. Both these engines are energetic and do not let the enthusiasm of the driver down at any point of time. This is one area where the vehicle can outperform its competent models in the market.
