Honda Brio-The Fun To Drive Compact Car

Honda Motor Company introduced itself to the Indian market by launching few premium class sedans during mid 90s. The company has maintained its reputation in India for its products which are of top quality. It has a great hold in sedan segment of Indian car market, but was unable to bring a capable model for small car segment till 2011. The launch of Honda Brio in India has changed this scenario. The Japanese automobile maker built this car which carries key characteristics of a Honda wagon and has priced it aggressively to gain hold in the small car segment.

Honda Brio is a handsome hatchback from outside. It has unique design cues like the glass tail gate, the thick chrome grille at front and bold lines on side body which runs around the front bumper as well. The black air dam on front bumper gives the car a sporty face. The tail lamp design is captivating with circular brake lights sitting inside a triangular cover. The Daylight Opening space (DLO) is vast in the vehicle which makes the interior look roomy. The automobile looks young and has some unique design factors which give the car an unmistakable look.

Honda has always managed to score over other brands when it comes to interior design and quality. Although Honda Brio is a budget hatchback from the company, the manufacturer has given enough room in beige coloured cabin. The auto giant has used fine materials to build the dashboard which has simple design. The glass tailgate aids for better rear visibility and makes parking an easier task. The passenger seats get folded down to increase boot space in the automobile. The air vents of AC and gear knob get chrome lining to make them appealing.

The I VTEC 1.2L engine powers the vehicle and the unit further mates with 5 speed manual or 5 speed automatic gear box. The Japanese firm introduced an automatic version of Brio to the Indian market during second half of 2012. The petrol engine has a peak power of 88 PS at 6000 rpm and 109 Nm at 4500 rpm. The car is good performer in mid and high range speeds and it is one of the very few base end hatchback models which can accelerate to 100 km/hr from standstill within 11 to 13 seconds. The automatic transmission system has seven gear shift modes to suit road and driving conditions. The vehicle is a superb performer and its light weight body gives the benefit of fuel efficiency. The vehicle has good inline stability and has a very short turning radius of 4.5 m.

Priced at Rs 4 lakh to Rs 6.5 lakh, Honda has managed to bring a balance between comfort and performance at low price in its Brio. The basic structure of this vehicle also follows the brand’s engineering design concepts like Advanced Compatibility Engineering and G-CON. These concepts take care of body balance and passenger safety right from the design of basic skeleton of the car. The car sales for Honda have boomed since the launch of this compact wagon. The fame of Honda Brio has worried other cars in India which share the hatchback segment with this automobile.
