What is the Process of Making of HPHT and CVD Diamonds?

by ABD Diamonds Pvt. Ltd. Leading Diamond Manufacture & Supplier
Generally, HPHT CVD Diamonds are created within eight weeks. Natural diamonds are usually made by carbon crystal lattices, due to which they get immense strength. On the other hand, rough diamonds manufacturers create loose diamonds under extreme pressure and high temperature that takes a long time to come out with a beautiful shape.

These diamond manufacturers create lab-grown diamonds under high pressure for about a few weeks in a controlled environment. With the latest technologies and methods, lab-grown diamonds are given the best shape and size as per requirement.

There are two main methods opted to make lab-grown diamonds:
1. HPHT Method
2. CVD Method

Let us have a quick look at how diamonds are created under each of these methods.

HPHT Diamond: Natural diamonds are created under extreme pressure of nearly 100miles below the earth’s surface. Likewise, the first successful diamonds were created by the HPHT Diamond manufacturer imitating the natural diamond. The three basic processes involve the belt press, cubic press, and split-sphere press. The goal behind this process is to get the pressure a diamond needs for growing. Each press starts with a diamond seed that is placed in a carbon under HPHT – high pressure- high temperature to grow the diamond.

With consistent success with the belt process, the HPHT technology has been improving with designs that are more efficient, bigger, and perfect gems that the buyers would love to buy.

CVD Diamonds: CVD is popularly known as Chemical Vapor Deposition, may be more developed and advanced technology than the HPHT method. It has been developed and grown from a hydrocarbon gas mixture. Similar to HPHT a diamond seed is placed in a carbon-sealed chamber and heated around 800 degrees Celsius.

CVD diamonds can be grown in a larger area with a bigger diamond seed plate. A CVD diamond process has control over the environment within the chamber and thus gives a polished diamond. Even after such advantages are written, a CVD diamond has nearly 3.23 carats and is graded as I color with VS2 clarity.

By these two methods used by the Diamond Manufacturer, people would definitely prefer lab-grown diamonds as they are eco-friendly, cost-efficient, ethically sourced, high-quality, and no mining is required.

Conclusion
Hence to make a lab-grown diamond, a controlled environment is needed with specific conditions. They are more environmentally friendly than naturally grown diamonds. Lab-grown does not need mining that degrades the soil, vegetation, and the environment. With the flexibility to create a diamond of any shape, size, and color, these fancy diamonds are high in demand.
