score at least 65 points on the Department of Home Affairs skill select system
to be eligible. This is also known as the regional sponsored migration
scheme subclass 187.
Subclass 191 is designed to attract talented individuals to move to

benefits. You won’t have to live in the regional area permanently or establish
yourself there immediately – but if you choose to do so, you’ll gain additional
benefits from the visa. This includes additional points for Skill Select,

Eligibility Requirements of Visa 187 and Visa 191
- To be eligible to
apply for a Permanent Residence Skilled Regional Visa Subclass 191,
you must meet certain criteria. First and foremost, you must be nominated
by an Australian state or territory government agency. This nomination
must include a commitment of support for you to live and work in the
designated regional area.
- In addition to your
nomination, you must have held a valid Subclass 489 Skilled Regional visa,
or a Subclass 187 Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa, for at least
three years before applying for the Subclass 191 visa. If you have been
issued a Subclass 489 visa, you must have been living in a designated
regional area for at least two of the three years immediately before
applying.
- You must also be under
45 years of age at the time of application and have been invited to apply
for the visa by the Department of Home Affairs. The invitation will
include details of any mandatory skills assessments you must undertake to
be granted the visa.
- Finally, you must
demonstrate that you have the necessary English language ability, health,
and character requirements and that you meet all other eligibility
criteria for the visa. You will also be required to provide evidence of
your contributions to the Australian economy or community during your time
on the Skilled Regional (subclass 489) or Regional Sponsored Migration
Scheme (subclass 187) visa.

Residence Skilled Regional Visa Subclass 191. It may take some time to
receive a decision on your application, as the processing time can vary

Department of Home Affairs to process an RSMS visa application.
