What documents are required for Canada PR under Express Entry?

by Nationwide Visas Canada Immigration Services

Thousands of Indians move to Canada every year in search of better living, better jobs, education, and much more. To qualify for Canada PR, you need to conduct a Canada PR eligibility check as the first step of the process. Achieving a high score and submitting a complete document with an application takes you closer to fulfilling your dreams of moving to Canada a reality.

Most applicants who seek permanent residence in Canada choose Express Entry as their immigration program. Under this, applications are processed as quickly as 6 months – provided you submitted complete and accurate documents. Otherwise, there are chances of visa rejection.

Documents Needed to Make Express Entry Profile

NONE. There is no need to submit any document to create an online Express Entry profile. But with that being said, you may require details from some of all of the documents listed below:

1. Valid passport or travel document

2. Language test results

3. Evidence of earlier Canadian education or an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report if:

- you are applying through the Express Entry’s FSWP stream or

- you wish to gain points for your education completed outside of Canada

4. A provincial nomination certificate (if you have one)

5. A valid job offer from an eligible Canadian employer (if you have one)

6. Evidence of your earlier work experience

7. Certificate of qualification in a trade job provided by a Canadian province or territory (if you have one)

8. Proof of funds

Documents Required for Canada Express Entry Application

If you think just completing an online Express Entry profile or entering the pool is enough to get PR in Canada from India, then you are mistaken.

When you enter the pool, your profile is compared with other potential candidates and given a score called Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

The higher the CRS is, the more chances you have to get selected for an ITA by IRCC. For that, you have to keep an eye out for the latest Express Entry draw, usually conducted every 2 weeks.

If you do not get selected, try improving your score.

Once you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), it means IRCC is inviting you to submit a complete application with supporting documents.

These are the documents you need to submit:

  • Police Clearance Certificates

  • Proof of funds

  • Submit a birth certificate - if you have kids

  • Submit adoption papers - if you have a dependent child who is adopted

  • Submit a common-law union form - if you are in a common-law relationship

  • Submit a marriage certificate - if you are legally married

  • Submit a divorce certificate and legal separation agreement - if you are divorced

  • If you are widowed, submit the death certificate of your late husband - if you are widowed

  • Submit a Representative form - if you have hired a representative

Before this, candidates were asked to take a medical examination before they submitted their Canada PR application. But as of October 1, 2023, this is no longer required. Wait for the IRCC to notify you.

There are also additional documents that you may have to submit.

When all documentation is submitted, IRCC will start the processing.

If you fail to submit the complete document checklist, your application for Canada PR from India can be rejected. Therefore, do not forget to double-check your documents.
