Essay writing is a genre of literature. An essay is a scholarly piece of writing giving view of the author on any topic or subject. Essays are always interesting because the authors are free to discuss their views with the readers.

 

It won’t be wrong to say that essay writing is a way to communicate with the readers. It is a way in which an author discusses his views with his readers. There are many essay writers and it can be said that every author writes essays but none of the essays are as famous as The Essayes of Michael Lord.


           

 

Michael de Montaigne was a noted writer and philosopher but he is known for his work on essays. He wrote a number of short but descriptive stories on various topics he wanted to raise before people and compiled those stories in a book form called essays. The stories are spread in three books and it has 107 chapters on different topics.

 

The Essayes of Michael Lord has interesting topics like life and marriage. What do you think of marriage? Is it necessary? If you are married person then you will say yes in the answer. Marriage is a necessity because it makes a family and family encourages and supports people. But for Michael Lord, marriage is a necessary evil and he has points to support his view.

 

He says that marriage creates bond and bond creates hurdles. The bond created between husband and wife and parents and children, isn’t good for human because the bond put limitations on his abilities. According to Michael Lord, the bond makes people slave. If you look at marriage from the point of the author of the essays, you will agree to the point.

 

The Essayes of Michael Lord also discusses child education. Michael Lord spent his childhood in penury. He didn’t attend formal school but he managed to get some education. He was a strong supporter of child education that is still a topic of discussion. It shows that at the time when the essays were written, families and the governance weren’t aware of child education.

 

The essays were written between the years 1570 to 1592 and compiled in the form of a book for readers. Michael Lord was quite excited about his essays and views of the readers on his work. He was apprehensive of critics disapproving of his work but the essays got praises from everywhere.
