Westlake Homes Likely a Good Investment, Americans Report

by Brian T. Regent Property Group

Buying a home in Westlake Hills, also known as Westlake, probably would be a good financial decision, according to a survey of Americans, who reported in the greatest numbers since 2007 that now is a good time to buy a home. The National Association of Realtors®’ 2017 National Housing Pulse Survey reported that 84 percent of Americans believe that it is a financially smart time to purchase a home.

Homes in Westlake are among the highest priced in the state of Texas, but this also means there is potential for more growth in equity, over time and in a solid market. Eighty percent of Americans cited building equity from their home as the top financial reason to purchase a home, such as those for sale in Westlake. As the second top financial reason, they cited an ultimate goal of paying off the mortgage in order to own the house outright by the time of retirement. In third place of the top financial reasons, American reported homeownership as an investment opportunity that creates long-term wealth and increases net worth, a potentially strong argument for those considering investing in a

More than half of Americans strongly agree that homeownership builds secure and safe neighborhoods and also helps to provide stable and safe environments for families, concerns likely widely echoed by those who make their home in Westlake, a community known for its dedication to education, among other interests impacting families.

Sixty percent of Americans did express concern about the costs involved with homeownership. Forty percent said that a mortgage could be a strain on a budget. With many homes in the Westlake area offered for over $1 million, these concerns are particularly relevant, although competitive interest rates and the opportunity for equity gains offset these risks for many.
