Welded zone determines the life insurance for steel pipe

Like the saying goes that the amount of water in a bucket does not depend on the highest block on the wall, but on the shortest one on the wall. So does for steel pipe’s life, no matter what kind of one from seamless steel pipe, ERW steel pipe to galvanized steel pipe.

Generally speaking, we can figure out that the weld zone determines the service life of the steel pipe mostly. Why?

1. The joint in a steel pipe is the easiest place to get the channel corrosion for its joint trouble.

2. Crevice corrosion phenomenon happens often for steel pipes. As we all know, grooves are formed in the weld zone. Thus, this place would be easy to get rust. Under natural conditions, the groove has more tendency to corrode the formation of corrosion media in a stagnant state. So there is the situation of reducing the oxygen concentration of joints which is gradually increasing the oxygen concentration of the battery and the outer weld to accelerate the corrosion of the metal weld.

When we figure out where the trouble is, we would take plan to decrease this situation when we produce the steel pipe for customers.
