Wait just a minute says I!
I woke up this morning to a spam comment on my blog by someone trying to sell SEO services. To put it in a nutshell, they basically said "your blog sucks because you didn't do this that and the other." This that and the other boiling down to writing for spiders. Don't get me wrong you do need to increase the the exposure your blog gets by incorporating SEO elements, but the last I heard, the purpose of SEO was to get more humans eyes belonging to prospects to your blog or site.
What was in my blog, the message I meant to convey to human readers was of no importance, I have to write for the spiders!

Itsy Bitsy: Hey Charlotte! can you spot me a 20, I was just on this site and I absolutely have to buy that LL Bean rain slicker!
Charlotte: Sorry Bitsy, I just spent my last 10 bucks on an online subscription to Modern Pigsty.
Catch my drift? Are the spiders that your are so busy SEO'ing the information out of your blog for going to buy your products. The suggestion of that desperate spammer this morning would have destroyed the entire message I wanted to share with humans who actually do buy things in favor of writing something that made no sense to a human but appealed to spiders.
While SEO Is important, never forget who it is that you are really writing that post for and it's not Charlotte and Itsy Bitsy!

No, no political aspirations for me! And when the machines take over we really won't have to worry since Skynet will be sending Terminators after all of us. SEO will be the least of our problems!

I take it you are not running for political office. You make too much sense to be in politics. I agree with you 100%. At least until the machines take over and buy off the net.

I just laughed when I saw it (Thank God for Akismet that catches that garbage) I wonder how many people have top page rank and someone else with the same program is getting sales because they are blogging for human readers while top rank is blogging for spiders. They were also promoting the pack as many hyperlinks in your blog as you can. Kind of like all those PLR articles for sports jerseys and Timberland boots we see on APSense all the time.

ROFL! I love it! You sure caught my attention right from the start, talking about spiders like that. Thanks, I needed a laugh this morning :) I have gotten comments like the one you talk about, too. It's ridiculous... we are trying to get people - real LIVE people - to see our stuff... why should we care about spiders? They are not the ones who make the purchases... great article!

Catering your content to spiders in the hope you will gain a top listing is certainly not going to sell as much as making one human really understand your offer. Thanks for reminding us.

yes, I can't stand spam precisely because of the asinine comments left by the robots.

I wonder how many people are actually SEO'ing themselves out of business following the advice of the black hat tactics.

Writing for search engine "spiders" is not the same as writing for human business partners and customers. SEO is important but people are more important. You conveyed those points very well in a humorous manner. Loved it!
