Veterans Health Centre Press Release

by EFOUR WEB Digital Marketing

Veterans Health Centre is an Australian service that offers support to veterans in their recovery and return to civilian life. It was created by ex-Australian Defence Force (ADF) doctor, Dr Thomas Perkins, in 2019. He wanted to provide a service that would make it easier for veterans to navigate the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA), which can be a difficult and frustrating task for many.

Patients at Veterans Health Centre receive support in submitting their claims to the DVA and are ensured genuine support in making sure their claims are approved, they receive proper veterans health care, and that they are assisted in the case of a permanent impairment. The staff at Veterans Health Centre are also all former ADF members, which provides them with a greater sense of empathy and insight into the needs of their patients.

DVA claims are how former ADF members can ask for compensation for the treatment or rehabilitation of any injuries, illnesses, or diseases gained during their time in the military. This financial compensation is used to help cover the expenses of any medical, hospital, and other health care services for eligible veterans, their spouses, and any dependents.

Veterans health care is provided to patients through the creation of a veterans health care plan. This plan allows numerous health care specialists that are working in collaboration with Veterans Health Centre to create a ‘comprehensive care plan’ of how essential medical care will be accessed, as well as provide resources to improve the veteran’s quality of life. Numerous areas of care can be accessed through this plan, including chronic injury management and mental health services.

A permanent impairment refers to an injury, illness, or disease that disables the former ADF member who has acquired it. This impairment may restrict the veteran from engaging in everyday activities from personal care to leisure activities. Veterans with a permanent impairment may be entitled to compensation from the DVA.

Some of Veterans Health Centre services include:

• Writing and submitting DVA claims

• Providing a veterans health care plan

• Assistance in accessing mental health services and support

• Management of injury, pain, and chronic diseases

• Management of musculoskeletal injuries and pain

• Creating permanent impairment reports

Veterans Health Centre services can be accessed from multiple areas in Australia, including a Brisbane and an Amberly office in Queensland, a Sydney office in New South Wales, and a Darwin office in the Northern Territory. They are open Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 6 pm. They are also available for telehealth or video consults

Veterans Health Centre was created for veterans by veterans. The services provided are able to help make the transition from working in the military to civilian life significantly less stressful. The team at Veterans Health Centre will be able to figure out what is needed in order to best support their patients as they, having also worked in the military, understand their patient’s experiences and struggles.
