Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (EVO) is a 1992-2016 car produced by Mitsubishi Motors, based on the rally-renowned Mitsubishi Lancer. The EVO, a series of all-wheel drive vehicles with a turbocharged 4-cylinder inline engine, was available in 10 different versions from 1992 to 2016.

Mitsubishi Evo I

From 1992 to 1994, Mitsubishi Evo I featured a turbocharged 2.0 L 4G63 DOHC VR-4 engine, originally used on the Mitsubishi Galant, producing 184 KW at 6000 rpm. The Evo I comes in two trims: RS (Rally Sport) and GSR (Gran Sport Racing), with the latter featuring all the missing features and racing and street car specs.

Mitsubishi Evo II

The Evo II features larger, lighter sway-bars for improved stability and suspension, while its engine has been tweaked to increase output power to 191 KW at 6000 rpm. From 1994 to 1995, the Mitsubishi Evo II featured an enlarged spoiler, wider tires, and a 10mm increased wheelbase compared to the Evo I.

Mitsubishi Evo III

In 1995, the Mitsubishi Evo III was introduced with aggressive design and performance improvements, including a nose designed to increase air intake to brakes, radiator, and intercooler. The Evo III addressed lift force issues with increased rear wing and side skirts, and improved the engine with a new turbocharger, resulting in a 198 KW power output.

Mitsubishi Evo IV

The Mitsubishi Evo IV, released in 1996, was a second-generation car built on the Lancer platform and offered in two trims: rally-based RS and sports driving GSR. The Evo IV, featuring multi-link suspensions and an intercooled 2.0L 4G63 turbo engine, boasted a 206 KW (280 HP) power output at 6500 rpm. The Evo IV introduced two large fog lights on its front bumper and new tail-lights at the rear, which became standard in future Evo models. The Evo IV features Mitsubishi's Active Yaw Control (AYC) technology, enhancing cornering and braking stability by accurately controlling driving and braking forces on both wheels.

Mitsubishi Evo V

Mitsubishi introduced the Mitsubishi Evo V in 1998, featuring upgraded Active Yaw Control, a helical limited-slip differential, lighter pistons, larger turbocharger nozzle, increased torque, Brembo calipers, and larger tires, and improved exterior features. The Evo V comes in two trims, RS and GSR, each with unique features like rally suspensions, LSD, Enkei Wheels, Recaro seats, and Brembo brakes.

Mitsubishi Evo VI

In 1999, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI introduced new technology for the 1999 WRC regulations, including a revamped exterior, aero features, improved interior design, cooling, and improved handling. The Evo VI featured reduced fog lights, offset license plate, and adjustable rear twin-wicker spoilers, enhancing aerodynamics and engine cooling compared to the Evo V. Mitsubishi enhanced the Evo 6's engine cooling, brake system, and suspension with cooling channels and a high-volume oil cooler. The special edition, the Evo 6 Tommi Makinen, featured 17" alloy wheels.

Mitsubishi Evo VII

The 2001 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII, based on the larger Lancer Cedia (CT9A) platform, was larger and heavier than previous models. Mitsubishi upgraded Evo lineup with three differentials, parallel bonnet air grille, improved airflow, and an automatic transmission in GT-A trim level, addressing weight gain and torque distribution.

Mitsubishi Evo VIII

In 2003, Mitsubishi introduced the Evo VIII, a redesigned vehicle with a 6-speed manual transmission, available in three trims and a new MR trim. The Evo VIII now features a Bilstein suspension system, which enhances traction. The MR trim boasted numerous unique features, including Bilstein shocks, a new AWD system, sporty anti-lock brakes, alloy rims, and an aluminum roof.

Mitsubishi Evo IX

In 2005, Mitsubishi introduced the Evo IX, featuring a 2.0L 4G63 engine with variable valve timing and a new turbocharger, enhancing its power to 211 kW (287 HP).

Mitsubishi Evo X

In 2008, Mitsubishi introduced the Lancer Evo X, featuring a turbocharged 2.0L 4B11T engine producing 209 KW (280 HP) and a 5-speed manual or 6-speed sequential semi-automatic transmission. The Evo X boasted a wide trapezoidal grille, an increased wheelbase, and increased interior space, providing ample space for passengers.
