by Andrew Lope Business promotion

The death of a family member is a really hard time for the family and adding to this are the worries related to the last rites. The role of every family is to make the farewell as grand as possible and for this, they are willing to go to any extent. In some situations, where financial constraints are there, the family opts for budget funerals, but in any case, they want to make the event grand as well as memorable. As far as the last rites are concerned, people have two options to choose from, i.e. the burial and the cremation.

These two processes are different and the expenses related to them are also different and this is why both become very confusing for the family. Here in this article, let’s have a deeper look and how they are different along with several other things.

Cremation Vs. Burial: Definition And Processes Comparison

Let us start by understanding what does the process of cremation involve.

The Cremation

For ages now in the western world, burial was considered as the best method of body disposal, but things are changing really swiftly now with people opting for cremation more. Several factors have made this thing come to a reality and the expenses related to burial are one of them. It is expected that western countries will see more than 60 percent funerals involving cremation and not the traditional process of burial. The nature of cremation is lot more environmentally-friendly and budget-friendly than burial and this factor too has been a very significant contributor.

What Is Cremation?

Mostly budget funerals plans these days involve cremation that is the a name given to the process of disposing the body by using flames and very high temperature, up to 1800 degrees. This entire process takes place inside the cremation chamber or cremation furnace and in just a couple of hours, the body is turned into ashes and some fragments of bones. They are given the name of cremains that is handed over to the family of the deceased in an urn and the decision is to be taken by the family, as to what to do with the cremains.

What Is A Burial?

In the western world, this is a very familiar word that they have been using for ages now. This word is the name given to the method of disposing the body, where it is placed in the ground while inside the casket or a vault. This process is being carried out for several centuries, but modern day burial practices have changed a lot. According to funeral homes, modern day budget funeral packages give you the choice of both burial as well as cremation and if you go with burial, things would be slightly different, but grand at the same time. Modern day burial practices involve embalming the body to preserve some vital body parts. This is mainly a process to slow down the decaying process so that the family members can view the body in an intact form for a longer period.
