Treatment of Amblyopia by Dr. Sumitra in India

This article is about a real experience of a person with amblyopia eye disorder. Reading this would be worthwhile as it shows the real struggle and experience of a person.

Believe it or not! It’s true. I whole-heartedly thanks Doctor Sumitra and artificial eye company whom I got as a help from God. You can’t understand the pain until you are passing by. There may be many more like me and so I am writing this article to spread hope and assurance to renew their life like mine.

Once upon a time, there was a boy in my neighborhood who was seen with one eye patched in the play ground. The boy was having some eye problem in the left eye but the funny part of the game was, his right eye was patched. I did not know what the story all about is. 

I am 45 years old man, after I come from my work, I sit outside my home, in my balcony & watch these kids playing.

The boy, I mean Argho is the name of the boy who has eye patched was a constant topic of my search & research. Two days later I saw the patch was removed. Again sometimes I see, the eye patched and at many times I see the eye without any patch. Sometimes the right eye was patched, sometimes the left. I went to Argho’s father to esquire about the treatment that is going on. I could realize that Argho is one among people like me who are diagnosed with Amblyopia and go for patching to improve the vision in the weaker eye.

I don’t have either of my parents to tell me about my childhood. So I don’t know if I had undergone any patching. My right eye is Amblyopic. Literally speaking I see with my left eye and the right eye is more like a cosmetic non seeing eye for me.

I don’t know what entered my nerves and instigated me to help Argho get treated. I started my search and research on the treatment of Amblyopia. We live in Kolkata, Tollygung. I found not only child amblyopia but also adult amblyopia can be treated. We went to show to Dr. Sumitra for the treatment. Exercise books, one machine was given to do some exercise on it, eye cooler, eye mask was also given.

A few set of exercise which were very interesting ones were given to us. Some exercises were different for me & Argho. Argho could see 6/6 after a treatment of around 3 months. I took around 8 months to improve my vision. I am happy and delighted the adult amblyopia can also be treated in Kolkata, India.
