Tourist Destinations Along the Danube

During your stay on CME River Cruises, you are entitled to a half day education program followed by a half day tour program at our ports of call. This series is set on the Danube River, one of the most fascinating waterways in Europe. The cruise lasts a total of eight days, in Munich and ends in Budapest.

Passau

Known as the 'Three River City,' this old town lies at the confluence of the Danube, Inn, and Ilz. Passau is famous for its baroque architecture, so it just fits that you visit the Veste Oberhouse. Dating back to 1219, this fortress sitting on a hill served as the stronghold for the bishop Passau. As of now, it has opened as a museum, youth hostel, restaurant, and an open-air theater.

Linz

Sandwiched in between Salzburg and Vienna is the modern town of Linz. This city focuses on society, technology, and life in the future. One destination that you can't miss out on is the Ars Electronica Center. This futuristic museum focuses on technological advancement in the form of art. There are lots of AC action and interactive areas for children and adults to play in.

Durnstein

This sophisticated little town can be found in the Krems-Land District. It is easily the most-visited tourist area in the Wachau region because it is a wine growing area. If you're in the mood for a fancy afternoon, visit Domane Wachau for a wine tasting visit as it is considered a regional highlight.

Vienna

Popular for its intellectual and artistic legacy, Vienna is home to some of the greatest minds the world has witnessed such as Freud, Klimt, Mozart, and Beethoven. A trip to Vienna is not complete without attending a gala night at the Vienna State Opera. They have shows running year-round; it's impossible not to catch the state symphony for a classical concert.

Bratislava

Bordered by Austria and Hungary, the underrated town of Bratislava is famous for its hiking and cycling trails. If you want a quick escape from the city, explore the trails of Horsky Park, it's one of the many that you will see in this town. Century-old trees and interesting sculptures surround the hilly trails. It's an excellent way to spice up your daily morning jogs.

Budapest
