Paris is a global center for art, history, culture, fashion and gastronomy. Beautiful and wide boulevards, and river Seine characterize the city. Paris is popular for landmarks like Eiffel Tower and the Notre Dame cathedral as well as interesting cafes and trendy boutiques.

Although the residents in Paris experience high rents and things related to high population, people take pride to live in one of the world's leading business centers and cultural capitals.

Let us look at some of the significant features of Paris:

Paris Area Guide and its Arrondissements

Paris covers an area of 105 square kilometers and the city is divided into 20 administrative boroughs. These are referred to as arrondissements which elect the local mayor. The selection of local councilors lead to the formation of the City Council.  These are headed by the mayor of Paris.

The first arrondissement is in the center and the others outwards in clock-wise direction. Almost all famous tourist attractions are found in the central eight arrondissements.

The arrondissements are bordered by the périphérique, which is a ring highway. Outside the périphérique are the banlieues. These are the suburbs of Paris.

EU nationals have the right to participate in municipal elections and foreign nationals who live in Paris have no right to vote.

Climate

Expat residents will enjoy a temperate climate, which is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the land masses of the continent in the east. The weather conditions in France are changeable and that makes the city even more exciting to live in.
