Utah may be one of the safest states in America, but it still has its fair share of violence. A report was recently generated by Movoto that pegged down the top most dangerous cities in Utah. Some of them may surprise you.

The blog examined cities in Utah with more than 10,000 people and then checked the FBI Uniform Crime Report to decide which ones had the most violent occurrences. The report included instances of murder, violent crime, property crime and total crime.

1. South Salt Lake City

Many may be surprised that Salt Lake City is not the top place for violence in Utah. South Salt Lake City had more numerous instances of crime, especially wrongful death and murder.

2. Salt Lake City

However, Salt Lake City did come in at number two with property crimes topping its list of instances.

3. Ogden

Ogden, on the other hand, may not be that surprising of a choice. Residents here have a 1 in 20 chance of falling victim to a crime and needing a lawyer.

4. Washington

Washington, a little-known town in Utah, was high on the murder and wrongful death ranking. There were also high numbers of thefts and burglaries.

5. Tooele

Although there were many rapes, assaults and robberies in Tooele, there were surprisingly no murders or wrongful death cases.

6. Brigham City

This city may have a lot of peaches, but it also has the fourth-highest number of violent crimes per capita, increasing the need for people to hire a lawyer.

7. Cedar City

Cedar City has the fifth-highest number of murders in the state. While not as bad as some of the others, it balances out in the severity that accompanies murder cases.

8. Sandy

This surprising choice seems like a harmless suburb of Salt Lake City, however, it burdens its residents with a 1 in 32 chance to be the victim of a crime.

If you or a loved one has been the victim of a wrongful death case in one of these areas, contact a personal injury lawyer near you.
