Camaguey was founded in 1514 as Santa Maria del Puerto del Principe by Spanish colonists at the site of a Taino village. The city has a clay pot or Minaj on as its symbol-that is used to capture rainwater and keep it fresh for use. Camaguey is also the birthplace of the legend-Ignacio Agramonte who is an important figure in Spain. Camaguey’s Old Town was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. Our Lady of Candelaria Cathedral: Our Lady of Candelaria Cathedral is a beautiful Roman Catholic Church and minor basilica situated in Camaguey, Cuba in Ignacio Agramonte Par. This cathedral was built during the 18th century and was visited by Pope John Paul II in 1998. The Cathedral has been dedicated to the patron saint of the city- the Virgen de la Candelaria. The cathedral features a huge bell tower coupled with a statue of Christ and forms part of the historic center of Camaguey-which was a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2008.

Plaza Del Carmen: Plaza del Carmen is located approximately 600m west of the frenzy of Republic. It is located next to Iglesia de Nuestra Senora del Carmen which is one of the most beautiful churches. Plaza del Carmen although destroyed earlier has been restored with atmospheric street lamps, giant tina jones, life-sized sculptures of camagueyanos, etc.

Casino Campestre: Casino Campestre sits at Rio Hatibonico from the old town laid out in 1860. It is one of the largest urban parks that features a baseball stadium, concerts, shaded benches, and a beautiful monument dedicated to Mariano Barberan and Joaquin collar.
