In his book, the protagonist, Balram Halwai, a murderer who serve as a driver in his village, wrote a series of unsent letters to the Chines premier. In his second book, ‘Between the Assassinations, he wrote about the lives of the inhabitants of an Indian town. They were Indira Gandhi’s & her son Rajiv’s assassinations for over a seven-year cycle.

Adiga bagged the first position for the John Llewellyn-Rhys Memorial Prize in 2009.
