To Service or Not to Service

by Kevin Smith Author

BMWs, like many other cars, are highly complex and specialized machines. That is why after you buy one, you can’t just assume it will work as well 50 years later as it did on the first day unless you keep it serviced and maintained. Almost any tool will wear with age, and the more complicated, the more moving parts, the more often you will need service, maintenance, or repairs. If you are unsure when you should go to a BMW repair and service in Atlanta, here are some of the ways to keep track of when to get the automobile serviced and how to keep it in top shape.

Create a Time Schedule

One of the most common ways to keep track of when to get your car serviced is based on time. Many people get their car serviced regularly, every couple of months or so, thus ensuring that there are never any issues that go without being caught. This method works great for a lot of people and is sure to get you to a BMW repair and service in Atlanta on time. However, if you have trouble keeping track of time or schedules, it may not be for you, and there are other ways to track your services.

Monitor Use and Need

Many newer models have sensors that monitor the wear and tear that goes on within your vehicle, as well as whether you need to fill up on any fluids like oils, antifreeze etc. They usually display on the dash and let you know when the time comes to get your car serviced. You can also check all of this yourself if you know how. This lets you avoid having to make a stop when there is nothing to fix and you could save money if wait until there is some repairs or servicing that actually needs to be done.

Schedule Maintenance and Repairs Based on Mileage

Another way to judge the approximate wear on a vehicle, as well as the levels of oil and other fluids, is through your mileage. It’s easy to find estimated mileage mileposts that provide this information whenever you check. Another similar method is asking professionals when you get one service, how many miles you have until you should get it serviced again, basically just adding a set amount to your existing mileage.

The Best Result Equals No Problems

None of these options are inherently better than the others. The best option for you is the one that results in a well-maintained car and gets you BMW repair and service in Atlanta completed on time.
