From Salt Lake City, Utah to other parts of the country, bringing home a brand new baby is one of the most rewarding and joyous moments in a human’s life; however, having a newborn baby can be a little scary for new parents.

For example, a newborn must be gently passed from person to person with its neck fully supported, all while making sure that the little bundle of joy stays both comfortable and asleep. Even worse, a few months later, once a baby is mobile and able to crawl around the house, real panic sets in.

Curious babies will get into just about anything, whether it be in Salt Lake City or elsewhere. Because of this, toys will be strewn about the house. Seriously, you might as well have an experienced slip and fall lawyer on speed dial. Fortunately, possessions are replaceable. On the other hand, your your baby is not. Making your home a safe and functional place for you and your baby is essential, once your child becomes mobile.

But even before that state comes about, you’ll be tasked—in large part, at least—with the continual totting of your baby. Because of this, making sure the handrails on your home’s main set of stairs are installed correctly and securely is an important step in making a home safe. One slip and fall incident down the stairs could be extremely dangerous for you and the baby.

Furthermore, checking the safety of your baby’s crib could not only save your child’s life, but also save you a great deal on legal fees that would otherwise be devoted to the hiring of an experienced lawyer. Additionally, as far as cribs in Salt Lake City or anywhere else are concerned, investing in a crib that is up-to-code could prevent tragic accidents such as suffocation and SIDS.

Safety gates are also a safety staple for homes with small children. Infants seem to have a magnetic attraction to the stair and will sneak up a staircase any chance they get. In order to avoid a slip and fall accident while using the stairs, use a safety gate to keep your child safely in one area.

Lastly, have a list of emergency contacts that is visible to not only you, but your guests. The police department, fire department, neighbors and even the family lawyer are all good phone numbers to have on display, just in case an emergency arises.

As much as we might try to avoid them, accidents are bound to happen once your infant begins to move around the house on his or her own—even in cities as picturesque as Salt Lake City. Fortunately, there are safety tips and tools that can be used to avoid major injury and the need for a slip and fall lawyer.
