The Weirdest 4 Garden Discoveries
Have you ever discovered something strange in your backyard? Except the junk left by previous tenants? What if, while you were lawn mowing, you stumble upon something really weird like...
1. Ancient Animals Remains:
A farmer called John and his two sons walked in their backyard in Oskaloosa,Lowa. Suddenly, one of the boys noticed an unusual object in the grass. At first, he thought it was a ball floated in the creek. Once they got closer to the suspicious object, it turned out this actually was a four- foot long femur of a mammoth. The bone's size was quite uncommon and the animal was at least 12,000 years-old.
Another similar case: Eric Stamatin from Michigan and his cousin went crayfishing. The two utterly bored boys ended up near Eric's backyard and built a dam. They spotted a bone and took it back home. The scientific expertise revealed the year and the origin of the discovery: a 13,000 years-old fossil which is the axis bone of American mastodon. The two boys were very excited to surprise their classmates at school with the coolest show-and-tell item ever brought.
Twelve-year-old Maggie Jones walked around the backyard in Texas with her dad when she surprisingly discovered a rare fossil. The girl was very exited and told everyone about her extraordinary discovery. The odd fish is currently on display at the University of North Texas. Geography professor George Maxey believes the discovery is over 100 million years old.

2. Genuine Roman Gold:
Two amateur treasure hunters in Wigan, UK tried out a new metal detector in their backyard when they discovered a rare haul of Roman gold and silver. Kathy and Trevor Trove were literally staggered when the detector beeped. At first, they thought it might be a shopping trolley left buried in the garden by the previous tenants. The couple actually pulled out several thousands gold and silver coins along with cutlery, jewellery and an odd golden statue of a fat cow. Thrilled by the discovery she might be rich, the women quickly went to the nearest ASDA store to cash the coins. Unfortunately, Kathy's sister reminded her, the machine doesn't exchange foreign coins. On the next day, the couple contacted the local council. Immediately, the treasure was catalogued and valued – it all came in three and a half million pounds. The lucky couple received the cash and moved out of Wigan to somewhere posher. Soon after the case, all the neighbours frantically ripped up their gardens.
3. The Skeleton Of A French Soldier:
An inhabitant of Soupir got really shocked when he unburied all the bones of a human skeleton, which perhaps is a French soldier from 1914-1918. The soldier was killed while he kept a lookout and ever since his remains have stayed in the garden. The man certainly didn't expect to make such a discovery! He firstly noticed a sticking bone out of the ground before to see the whole body. The citizen immediately contacted the Gendarmes. All the labels, the uniform buttons and a knife were the clues which lead to the final conclusion: the skeleton belonged to a French Soldier who died during World War I.

4. A Jelly Mystery:
What is this strange jelly Scottish people found on the grassland ? A BBC radio listener was the first to came across with this debatable question. First suggestions include the jelly-like substance is a type of mould. Dr. Andy Taylor from Macaulay Institute in Aberdeen, suggests the mysterious thing is neither a plant nor an animal. Another scientists Hans Sluiman's referenced the subject to “the rot of the stars”. It backs up the theory birds of some species, which eat frogs and regulate the ovaries due to toxins. However, some disagree with this conclusion and the mystery hasn't been solved yet!
