The Rock - A Social Media Master
For many companies across the globe, trying to pin down a
good social media strategy is often difficult. It seems that there are now
hundreds of blogs, and thousands of posts on how to do social media better.
However, many people and
organizations, including professional marketing agencies, are hailing actor
and wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, as one of the best social media icons
and curators, so what lessons can be learned from him?
Making It About
Others
Without a doubt, most marketing agencies would agree that one
of the best lessons we can learn from The Rock, is that it is not all about you.
True The Rock does post quite a few pictures featuring himself, but there are
far fewer self-promoting posts than there are posts about others. In fact, he
exemplifies that success is more about kindness to others than self
glorification.
The Rock is a story teller, which as most marketing agencies
will tell is crucial, and he uses his Instagram feed to highlight other people.
For example, in April 2016, he told the story of an amazing baby girl who
despite all odds, was celebrating her first birthday. He went out of his way to
stop filming the show he was working on and meet with the little girl and her
family.
Sharing Passion
It doesn't matter how big your brand is or where you are
located, your consumers will appreciate you posting things you’re passionate
about. The Rock gives his followers a unique perspective of his life and is
still very creative about what he posts to share this message.
The Rock has a real passion for fitness, but he makes sure
his posts are better than the standard gym selfie. His workout pictures often involve
his pets and his friends, and when he performs tremendous feats, it’s a huge
hit! Finally, he is always showing that he is a lovable family man through post
about his mom, uncle and even his little baby. Clearly, his example has lessons
for in-house marketers and marketing agencies alike.
