As summer begins, parents are starting to look for activities that can both entertain and educate their children. And what better place to do so, than a day camp? Camps provide the perfect environment for children to learn, play and develop skills that will benefit them later in life. If asked, most children will say that cam taught them how to work in a team, develop friendships and learn to care for others than themselves. These are all extremely important aspects that will shape their personalities and adult life later on.

The first lesson that children learn in camp is to become more confident in themselves and build up their self-esteem. By working in teams, they will learn not only how to cooperate with others, but also how to use their best skills to help the team, which will make them feel appreciated and much more confident. This will teach children to identify and nurture their best assets, to help both themselves and others around them. Being able to successfully finish a task when their teammates depend on them will teach children that not only can their actions influence and help others, but also the fact that people are stronger together.

By attending day camps, children will learn how to socialize with others, no matter their cultural or social differences and will help them build friendships that can last for a lifetime. Day camps in Queens, for example, have multiple games and activities that focus on teaching children how to communicate with others. By taking part in those games, children will learn how to strike up a conversation, how to listen actively before coming up with a response and how to respect their conversation partner.

Nowadays, camps rely a lot on helping children identify and grow their affinities, be them for sports, arts or even cooking. Camp counsellors engage in conversations with them and help them find activities that will spark their passion. Once they discovered their interests, you can go ahead and pick special programs for them, which focus on further developing them.

Taking care of themselves while in a more difficult situation, such as getting stung by a bee or scratching their knees will also help them become more independent. Although all camps in Queens have qualified personnel to take care of the children in these situations, being able to surpass a moment like this without the help of mommy and daddy will teach them how to overcome difficult situations by themselves.

Last, but not least, children will learn how to be more brave, by breaking their own boundaries and being involved in new activities they would otherwise be reluctant to try. Learning how to step out of their comfort zone and not to turn their backs in front of challenges is an extremely important lesson that will benefit them in their adult life. This way, they will know how to react when situations get complicated, without feeling overwhelmed or scared and will prepare them for making lifechanging decisions when the time comes.
