The Prudent Man

by Ricardo W. Precious Metals Dealer & Networker

If you study this proverb carefully, the man is looking at the danger coming his way, doesn’t like what he sees, and hides himself until the danger passes.  Notice the proverb says a “prudent” man and not “extreme” man.
The word prudent is defined in Webster’s New Basic Dictionary as:
1. Handling practical matters judiciously; 2. Managing carefully: provident; 3. Behaving circumspectly: discreet

So let’s take a look at a prudent man-the one who buys insurance to protect his assets.  Should this person be called an “extremist” or  "pessimist" because he believes that a tragedy may happen to destroy his property?  Not really.  He’s looking to protect his future-based on things that can destroy his property!  Fire, car accidents, sickness, natural disasters, and death are realities that happen worldwide, 24 hours per day-7 days per week.

These types of disasters can range from thousands to millions of dollars!  Years ago, I remember when a tornado ripped through a small town & destroyed everything in its path. The news crew interviewed the survivors to see if they were alright and what they did to protect themselves.  One person said they lost everything and did not have insurance.  Then, the news crew went further down the road to interview another person. They also lost everything, but had insurance and were ready to rebuild and move on from this tragedy.

Yes, these were isolated events, but history clearly shows that the “insured” are more prepared for the unexpected than the “uninsured”.   Why go through “unnecessary” pain and turmoil if you believe there’s a chance it can happen to you?  This person was aware of the dangers of being uninsured and decided to take action.  No one will call him “extreme” or "pessimistic" because he chose to buy insurance to protect his home, car, and family.  Instead, he will be considered smart for insuring his assets.

Now, you may be thinking: “Why are we talking about a prudent man?”  Because I want to make you aware of media outlets, analysts, and bloggers who are bashing the people who want to protect their assets with silver & gold. These individuals are looking at the world economy (as a whole) and for sees danger on the horizon. Therefore, they are looking for ways to protect their assets and to warn others of the potential danger that may suddenly arise.  BUT they have been labeled as “extremists” and "pessimists".  Why?  How is what they are doing any different than the man who purchased health, life, and home owner’s insurance for his family?

The opinion of these people is what the proverb calls the “simple man”.  They are the ones who ignore the signs of danger, dismiss the facts presented to them, refuse to study the information given, and continue living as if nothing will ever happen.  In their minds, an economic disaster cannot happen because it would have happened before (but it did-study "The Great Depression").  They believe that we are somehow “immune” to whatever happens to this economy.

The same could be said about the person who refuses to get insurance to protect their home, car, or personal assets. They don’t believe an accident, flood, or theft could happen to them because “it never happened before”.  But when disaster strikes and destroys everything they own, they are ashamed and have to turn to the ones who gave the warning(s) for help.  Another reason for the simple man is they don’t want to invest the time to study and they don’t want to change.  They are comfortable where they are, with the mindset that it can’t happen to me.

Don’t become the simple man who ignores valuable information and calls the prudent man “extreme”.  There are three things I would suggest for those who are reading this blog to do.  Beware:  This could be dangerous and you will be held liable for what you know from now on.  Here goes:

1.       Get accurate information on silver and gold from the Precious Metals Experts (they’re “experts” for a reason)
2.       Study, study, then study it some more!
3.       THINK FOR YOURSELVES! (weigh the facts and go with your gut)

Just remember, that the simple man is destroyed because he refuses to do anything.  “The heart of the prudent gets knowledge and the ear of the wise seek knowledge.”  Become prudent and gain knowledge.  And when getting knowledge, GET UNDERSTANDING!
