THE PERFECT BROGUE SHOES FOR YOUR WARDROBE

by Mike Tyler Fashion Enthusiast

The change in season has brought a change in our wardrobe too. With a lot of humidity in the air, your shoes play the most important part in keeping your feet at ease. No matter how bad the weather gets, the show must go on and in this weather, risking your polished formal shoes is not a good idea. Brogues can help keep your feet airy with their unique perforations. So, when it's time to pick a pair of formal shoes that are exquisite and comfy, why not go for brogues? They'll give your look a trendy add-on glance!

QUARTER BROGUES

To begin with the various types of brogue shoes, we have the traditional quarter brogue, which is also the most formal of the three. Due to the lack of perforations compared to the other two brogues, this style is typically worn in a professional setting, as the hole pattern is more subdued. The best way to wear quarter brogues such as Todd is with a well-fitted suit or if suits aren't your thing, with a long-sleeved dress shirt and cuffed slacks.

Semi brogue

A little less formal than quarter brogues, semi brogues are ideal for a business casual ensemble. Dark brown or black leather semi-brogue shoe pair well with tweed (rough woollen fabric), worsted sports coats, and brown suits. They also pair well with dark denim and dark blazers with T-shirts.

Full brogue

Wingtips are perfect for country and casual ensembles. These masterpieces pair well with dark jeans and a patterned shirt. Full brogues look great with chinos and casual trousers. Light-coloured leather brogues are tricky but can be carried elegantly with a pinstripe suit giving off a well thought out vintage look. Every man should own at least a single pair of leather brogues, and Bonford has curated one of the best brogues in the market. Our leather brogue shoes will help you smarten up while still making you look fashionably suave.

Longwing Brogue Shoes

Longwings, unlike wingtips or full brogues, have wingtips that wrap around the entire shoe length and meet at the back heel counter. They have a slightly conventional appearance. Reserve these pairs for formal events with a strict dress code, such as weddings. They are solely dressed in shoes with a formal appearance. Avoid wearing these to meetings and other ostensibly formal events. These shoes may be a little too formal for office attire.

Blind Brogue

A blind brogue shoes has the same broguing details as wingtips and full brogues but without decorative perforation on the toe. It is the most basic type of footwear and appears quite versatile. These are the least formal shoes available. They typically look great with virtually everything in your closet. Avoid wearing these with ethnic clothing and other strictly formal or party attire.

Given their traditional appearance, brogues are great shoes that are typically understated. However, if styled properly, they can be worn outside of formal settings!
