With the growth of the curry industry of the UK, as it's popularly known to the world, more and more people are accepting and enjoying Indian dishes. Looking at the increasing interest of people in it, the Indian curries are being altered to suit the British palette.  No wonder, currently there are more than ten thousand restaurants, 80,000 employees, with a turnover of as much as 3.5 billion pounds in the UK. This clearly depicts it has become an integral part of the British economy and the escalating liking for the Indian food in the UK. Statistics have shown this industry has given jobs to more than 100,000 jobs to South Asians living in the UK.

The curry restaurants which had started somewhere in the 1940s today has  helped the Indian curries make their way to every nook and corner of Britain be it the fine-dining venues, street-food-inspired restaurants or the banquet halls.  When we talk about the Indian gravies or curries it includes chicken tikka masala, jalfrezi, etc. and dishes like lamb shanks are the preferred choice for the fine-dining restaurants amongst the British nationals. However, the Seekh kebabs are more popular among casual diners. The reason for the acceptance of the Indian food in the UK is the fact that they are made from the traditional Indian recipes that have been passed from one generation to the other. Apart from the recipes, the curries are made using the  authentic species and best of ingredients which are simmered for hours to get the Indian food lovers, the food that could be had only in India once.  This cuisine is best had with bread, rice or even noodles.

To know more about the Indian curries which can be used as an interchangeable term for cuisine for south east Asian including countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and of course  India do browse through the sites of the Indian restaurants in the UK.

Owing to the increasing popularity of the Indian cuisine, events like National Curry Week are organised annually here. If that was not enough, even the annual British Curry Awards have become a focus of the social circle of the rich and famous of London. In fact, they are being referred to as 'the curry Oscars'.  Recently, the eighth edition of the Awards which was held in London shows that an Indian meal has surpassed the Italian and Chinese cuisine and it has become the ideal choice of take-away food of the British people. Looking at this scenario a fresh category was introduced - Best Delivery Restaurant/Takeaway in these awards.

So, whether you are away from home, have come to UK on a holiday or want to try something different on a special occasion you should give the Indian curry a try!
