An Introduction to Microsoft Dynamics 365 – An Overview

Microsoft first released Microsoft Dynamics 365 product line in November 2016 branding it as Dynamics 365 for operations. It was again rebranded to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations in July – 2017 incorporating the familiarity of productivity tools like Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Microsoft Dynamics 365 features combine the power of CRM and ERP on a secure and flexible local cloud platform. Organizations from across the sectors are using Dynamics CRM.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 cloud app is being sold via the Cloud Solution Provider Program (CSP) and a business app platform for Independent Software Vendor (ISV) allowing software vendors to embed this app in their own vertical solutions. The Microsoft Dynamics 365 Apps include Sales, Field Service, Customer Service, Project Service Automation, Marketing, Financials, and Operations. In addition, two new apps were introduced such as Power Apps and Flow to help users customize their dynamics 365 solutions.

A look into Microsoft Dynamics 365 for finance and dynamics 365 for operations -

Microsoft Dynamics 365 integrates seamlessly with Office 365 with new Outlook integration also adds new features and improvements. Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations is available as part of the Unified Operations Plan. Some of the new features of Microsoft Dynamics 365 include-

1. Customer Insights – The customer insights is a SaaS service that is based on Azure that enables all the organizations from small to large in bringing together data from a number of sources including Microsoft Dynamics 365.

2. Editable grids – The editable grids features include online editing capabilities in the main grid as well as sub-grids without switching records or views.

3. Data Export Service – Data export is an additional service that adds an ability to duplicate Dynamics 365 data to a Microsoft Azure SQL Database store in a customer-owned Microsoft Azure subscription.

4. Cortana Integration – Cortana integration is a preliminary feature available to companies that use CRM online 2016 update.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance is a low cost SaaS developed and hosted centrally for Microsoft. The Dynamics 365 for finance is best suited for companies with over 100 users. The Microsoft dynamics 365 for operations helps organizations in making smarter decisions by taking advantage of integrated manufacturing, warehousing and service management.

Microsoft Dynamics operations users are able to access the system from any location and on any device using any browser. The Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations and finance is the only ERP system that is fully integrated with Internet of Things or IoT Suite. The new vendor collaboration module within Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operation streamlines vendor processes with the module allows for communication within Microsoft Dynamics 365 instead of back and forth emails with vendors.
